What wine styles, sweetness levels, and price points perform best in India's growing wine market?

In our latest market insight session, Kamal Malik MS shared key perspectives on what drives consumer preferences and commercial success across the region.

Kamal highlighted that while red wines and rich aromatic styles remain very popular, Indian consumers show a clear preference for a touch of residual sugar, around 5 to 6 grams per liter; to smooth out rough edges, rather than strictly bone-dry profiles. He also noted that the sweet spot for off-trade retail sits between $10 and $30, which scales to around $50 in restaurant and on-trade settings where wines move the highest volume.

Texas Hill Country is a useful reminder that American wine is much bigger than California, Oregon and Washington.

Covering parts of 22 counties in central Texas, the region sits on limestone, sandstone and granite soils, with warm days and cool night conditions shaping its growing environment.

Mediterranean and Southern European varieties have found a strong home here, with producers seeing success across Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, Sangiovese, Viognier and Tannat.

The bigger story is a region defining its distinct identity through experimentation, site selection and grape varieties suited to its challenging conditions.

What wine styles and price points are gaining momentum across Hong Kong and mainland China?

In our Wine Trends & Opportunities in Asia webinar, Dominique Noël, Wine Buyer & Sommelier, shared key market insights on how evolving consumer preferences and climate factors are shaping buyer behavior in the region.

Dominique highlighted a significant surge in demand for lighter, more refreshing reds like Pinot Noir and Gamay, driven by local climate and humidity. He also noted the expanding importance of crisp whites, sparkling wines (including English sparkling), and entry-level price points, specifically under $15–$20, that cater to a younger generation seeking freshness and high drinkability over heavy oak.
