IC 1396 - The Elephant's Trunk Nebula (broadband)🐘

High resolution version on my website, link in bio! (www.CVZastro.com)

In 2023 I made my first image of IC 1396 with my WO Redcat 51 MK2.5 using an Optolong L-eNhance filter. And to be honest, I wasn't really happy with the final result. And that was because I made a small mistake... my focus was NOT good at all, oops. In the meantime I've learned a lot about this object and astrophotography in general. I've seen some people that only used RGB filters for this object and I really wanted to give that a try! So here it is, my natural/broadband look of IC 1396 - The Elephant's Trunk Nebula (with my L-Pro light pollution filter and no HOO-palette). ✨

Messier 5 - The Rose Cluster🌹

New astronomical bookmarks available on my website! (link in my bio!)

Messier 5, the Rose Cluster, is a beautiful globular cluster that contains more than 100.000 stars. And some of them are more than 13 billion years old! Capturing this was a fun challange, recently I made a new Pixinsight workflow to edit star clusters a bit more constistent and that shows.

It's pretty easy to find this cluster with a small telescope in the constellation Serpens, look for a greyish spot with a lot of tiny stars points✨

Messier 63 - The Sunflower Galaxy (reprocessed with more data!)

New bookmarks on my website link in the bio!📚

Messier 63 - The Sunflower Galaxy is this month's Deep Sky Tip from the Dutch Sterrenstof Podcast, and I always love taking part in this challenge! That's why I ended up capturing more data for this object, to add that to the data I already had and decided to reprocess the image for a better final result. Be sure to follow @sterrenstofnieuws ✨🔭

Old description:
Messier 63 is a bright spiral galaxy that kinda resembles a flower. Just like the object in my last post, Messier 106, it hides a powerful secret in its core. A supermassive black hole. The black hole itself doesn't emit bright jets or bursts of energy like other black holes. So that makes it a bit harder to detect. Astronomers studied the stars and dust surrounding the core, and the movements of these things suggest that there is a dense object there that can only be a black hole!

For this image I choose to use my Optolong L-Pro filter, to capture it in its natural light. I hope you like it as much as I do!
