A huge thank you to our retreat chefs. 👩🏼‍🍳👨🏽‍🍳

A big part of going on a retreat is about checking out from the hustle of everyday life. Imagine five days without having to cook, do the dishes, run to the grocery store, or even think about what you’re going to eat next.

Instead, you simply get to sit down and be served a delicious, nourishing meal, three times a day. 💛

Every meal at our first Head Up Retreat was prepared with so much love and care by our trusted retreat chef, @martinesetsaas together with her wonderful support in the kitchen, @khaliuster. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to take care of us and our guests.

And what made it even more special? They’re both family. It felt special to share our very first Head Up Retreat with our loved ones, Sigrid’s sister and Amanda’s boyfriend. Having their support and familiar presence throughout the retreat meant so much to us. But it was also special to give them a glimpse into what we’re creating with Head Up, and to let them experience, in a new way, how alopecia can show up in women’s lives.

Thank you for nourishing us, taking care of us, and being such an important part of this very special beginning. ❤️

And then, it was time for the Studio. 🤍

This is what we dreamed of when creating BHBD Studio — a space to explore, try, style and find the hair that feels like you. But also a space to meet, connect, share experiences and simply spend time together.

Ahead of the day, each woman had shared a picture of her dream hair with us. Waiting for them in the Studio was a custom-made wig, created individually with their vision in mind.

Seeing everyone discover their new hair and the Studio come to life with wigs, styling, conversations and laughter was everything we hoped this space could be. 🤍

A new chapter, with our community at the heart of it. 🤍

To celebrate the opening of our new BHBD Studio, we invited an incredible group of women from across Europe, each with their own story and journey with hair loss — and invited each of them to bring someone from their community to share the experience with.

Together, we spent a very special day in Stockholm — from lunch and shared stories, to receiving their own custom-made wigs in our new Studio, followed by dinner and a night together in Stockholm.

It all started around one table at BHBD HQ.
Over lunch, stories were shared, conversations opened up and new connections were made — reminding us just how powerful it is to bring this community together.

And the day had only just begun. 🤍

I dag er @sigridsetsaas bursdag og hvilken fin anledning å minnes tilbake på alt som har skjedd de siste årene.

For fire år siden flyttet jeg inn i verdens minste og koseligste leilighet på Grunerløkka med Sigrid og @martinesetsaas . Vi hadde møtt hverandre på Nøsen yogahotell og så reist sammen i Mexico.

Jeg hadde vært ute og reist ett år og funnet ut at jeg skulle bo på gård og skape community. Foreløpig var den drømmen ganske langt borte, men jeg satt nå på co-working space en dag i uken og gjorde research, med jentene som motiverende heiagjeng på sidelinjen. Det var nok både familie og venner som synes denne drømmen min var litt rar og fjern, men ikke Sigrid og Martine. De heiet, lyttet, utfordret og samskapte.

Vi hadde månedlige kvinnesirkler i leiligheten med venninner hvor vi satt frem krystaller, tok på oss kimonoene våre og til og med spilte litt tromme. Vi hadde også en retreat for den samme gjengen, noe vi var veldig stolte av.

Jeg fikk jobben på Opaker og flyttet på landet, men de har begge vært på hyppige besøk og så viktige støttespillere for meg på denne reisen.

I år har Sigrid arrangert retreat i Portugal for kvinner med alopecia, Martine har arrangert en åtte-dagers meditasjon- og vandring-retreat i Rondane med munker fra Plum Village, og jeg har arrangert min andre HÅP-festival og samskapelser på Bekkola.

Lite visste vi da vi satt der i stua med seks kvinner med kimono og tromme, hvor dette skulle ta oss. Jeg er så stolte av oss for å tørre å drømme, heie på hverandre og være der for hverandre i tykt og tynt.

Og Sigrid, siden det er din bursdag: Tusen takk for alt du skaper for menneskene rundt deg. For at du drømmer stort, deler livsgleden din og bruker ditt fulle potensiale.

✨ Day 2 – Presence, Courage & Stepping Beyond Our Comfort Zone ✨

Our second full day together began with a silent walk through the beautiful surroundings of Moinhos Velhos. It was a chance to set an intention for the day and simply be present.

After breakfast, we gathered for our daily Head Up Circle. Together, we reflected and prepared ourselves for the day’s program, which included exploring Lagos, going to the beach together, and having a sunset photoshoot.

For some, it meant going out without their wig for the very first time. Others felt nervous about the sunset photoshoot, while some were simply excited about the unique experience of sharing a beach with so many other bald women.

Together, we reflected on moments of courage from our own lives, sharing stories of times we had chosen bravery over fear. Through movement, reflection, and open conversations, we explored what confidence, self-love, and acceptance truly mean.

The rest of the day became an opportunity to put all of this into practice. To choose presence over perfection. To embrace ourselves exactly as we are. To discover that courage doesn’t always mean feeling fearless—it often means taking one small step while feeling vulnerable.

We spent a beautiful afternoon at the beach, our photographer @itsmartinjacobsen creating a safe and empowering space for a portrait photoshoot, while @aylamiquel__ entertained us with his angelic voice, leading us in a joyful singalong.

The day was full of gentle reminders that the most meaningful transformations happen when we dare to show up as ourselves. 💙✨
