Meet the artists of Zero10

Each of the artists featured in Zero10 during @ArtBasel Hong Kong shares a common quality: they make their systems legible, showing how they operate, who they involve, and what they demand, while positioning the viewer as an active participant within a living structure.

We wanted to take a moment to highlight each of these artists:

→ @lauriesimmons @petra_cortright (@_solos_gallery)
→ @bottoproject
→ @clairesilveraiart (@planxgallery)
→ @sougwen (@fellowship.xyz @artxcode.io)
→ @jckbtchr (@silkarthouse)
→ @kevinabosch (@taex_com)

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗱𝗿?

A CTR childhood built in Lego cities and RuneScape, @cydr.cydr is Brazilian born and internet raised, his work is heavily influenced by these early formative years: “I transform things. I play with them. I derange them from the original. Familiar, but with a different weight.”

Cydr’s method is precise and unserious in equal measure: part drawing, part manipulation, the source stays visible, then gets stressed until it shifts.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗱𝗿, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤𝙤.

Mika (@100o111) grew up with the speed of the internet. She doesn’t treat the it as an abstract ‘space’ but as something that presses against your eyes and fingers every day. Her work comes out of that contact. She is not illustrating the internet from afar; she is working from inside it.

Mika provides us with objects and websites that make us question trust, dependency, permission and caring (about your data), building works that look like something you’ve seen a thousand times before, until you realize they’re watching you back.

In the current (cold) winter time, let’s float and dream back to the summer with Summer Wagner.

This past season, @summergwagner moved into a larger studio and had a deeper inquiry into what it means to create amid constant noise. We brought Summer’s work to Silk Road Day 02 / NYC and afterwards she spoke with @nina_knaack on an ecology of feelings and evaluating ambiguity.

A conversation on slowness, new work, fate, agency and art-making in a restless world, we explore Summer’s practice of acting gently when urgency demands otherwise.

“I always ask before photographing. That openness turns the act into collaboration rather than intrusion.”

For @nytmag photographer @devinyalkin, trust is the foundation of every photograph. Before taking out his camera, he stays present - watching and learning the rhythm of a place. Only once trust is earned does he begin to work.

Read more about his way of working in ‘How subcultures hold Devin Oktar Yalkin’s eye’ on Silk Magazine.

TOGETHER WITH SILK
SILK ROAD – Silk Art House’ Event Series

In contrast to Silk’s art-centric focus, Silk Road is the human-centric aspect of Silk, dedicated to fostering and strengthening genuine connections and real-time experiences.

What lies hidden behind an artboard? Hours of hard work, thoughts, reflections, agony, and excitement. All of this, plus the fuel for those moments—human connections. Following this logic, Silk Road is something concealed behind a notch, transforming from a sharp shape and holding deep meaning and potential within. Silk Road’s identity is flexible, transforming to suit upcoming events. Its color scheme adapts to each hosting city’s vibe, while artworks and images reflect specific city highlights.
