‘I’ve always noticed. The way her pale eyes blink repeatedly when she’s processing something.

When I manage to get her out of her own head, she giggles so beautifully and carelessly.

And when someone says something she dislikes but she doesn’t want to contradict them, she scrunches nose in the cutest way imaginable.’

“Not wanting her to wiggle and fall out of my arms while I go up the stairs, I hold her tighter as I walk up each step.
“Which one is your—” I stop as I spot a door with a dancer painted on it. It’s beautiful, almost abstract, yet you can easily recognize the shape of a ballerina.“

“He’s covered in dirt. His white shirt brown and gray from soil, his hair completely disheveled. He looks unwell, pale, with cracked, dehydrated lips. Like he came back from the dead. Quite literally.
But he’s glorious, mighty…alive.”

We wanted to commission this art of Chris as a fallen angel after he had crawled out of the grave, signifying him getting his freedom, and being able to live a safe and happy life with his partner Ella.

We wanted to bring awareness to the topic of Domestic Violence, something Lola did by writing the character of Christopher Murray.

In Canada, 80% of victims do not report abuse due to shame and stigma around it. If you are ever experiencing Domestic Abuse, please know you are not alone.

“I know the real Ella. The empathetic girl, who cares about the people around her. The one who has feelings and doesn’t care whether her reputation is intact or not. My Ella is so beautiful inside and out it radiates on the rainiest days.”

“Peach’s red hair is in a long ponytail today, the sun reflecting in it. She’s a powerful woman. So tiny yet so damn powerful. She takes shit from no one.”

Tilting his head to the side, he observes me playing with her. “You know what. I already have one unbearable woman in my life. I’m not sure another one would be good for my sanity.” “No one cares about your sanity.” I scratch Little Sausage’s head, and when she licks my face, I laugh so hard, a squeal escapes me.

“A gorgeous body sculpted by years of cheerleading. Beautiful, vibrant hair. A mix of brown, auburn and red no dye could compete with. Bright green eyes that sparkle the second she finds something amusing.”

“Because there has never been anyone else in my heart but you, Peach. You take all the space in there with your attitude and sassy mouth. You left no one else a chance because no one has your eyes full of challenge, your soft hair, your perfect skin. No one has two crooked lower canines like you, three freckles that make an equilateral triangle on their right shoulder. No one makes my heart beat. And I don’t mean they make my heart skip a beat, or make my heart palpitate. I mean that when I’m not around you, I don’t feel my fucking pulse, do you understand that? I feel dead unless I can hear your voice that’s always a little too loud and opinionated, unless I can see that little vein on your forehead when someone angers you.”
