❌ It’s often assumed we are a “women’s only” studio.
❌ It’s often assumed group classes are only for women.
❌ It’s often assumed women don’t support other women.
•••
This year’s International Women’s Day is for our staff, our members and the men who attend our classes and truly feel inspired by the women training around them.

🎶🎼🎵
When Danielle opened our doors almost 1 year ago, she didn’t want to rush the design of the lobby.
The space of connection.
The space of laughter.
Of fear.
Of happiness.
Of growth.
Of events.
Of friendship.
And everything in between.
🎵
The same feelings music and songs lyrics bring to people.
🎶
Sarah Peck, artist of @silverlynstudio understood her vision and her paint brush has been able to put Danielle’s vision on the wall.
🎼
We hope you love wha it is adding to the space so far…and don’t forget, our 1st Anniversary Party is FEBRUARY 28th!!!

‼️🚨Artist Interview🚨‼️
The final installment for the Sarah Peck Interview
🖤✨🖤✨🖤✨🖤
Q & A:
Q:What are three things you would tell younger Sarah knowing what you know now?
A:I would tell 25 year old me that she was ready for anything, even if that would be hard for her to believe. I would tell her about the design job I got after I moved to Florida, and how I knew instantly that I could have done it right out of school but convinced myself I couldn’t because it wasn’t the degree I studied. Or I’d tell her that I really didn’t know that much more about murals between the time I made one for my highschool and when I made one professionally, and if she simply spoke up about wanting to make one, she was more than capable. I’d remind her to trust her gut, know her worth, and befriend that inner fighter. Also I would tell her to keep up her running and yoga practice, please, because it’s so much harder to start up again in your 30s. I would tell 15 year old me that she is so much stronger and more adaptable than she gives herself credit for. I’d insist she deserves to spend more time just doing what lights her up and less time criticizing herself and doubting that others even wanted her around. I’d assure her that the time she spent alone in her sketchbooks and at the piano made her cool actually, and to never feel self conscious about being quiet until she had something to say.And I would tell 5 year old me that I love her forever and I will always do my best to protect her now that I can. I would thank her for her beautiful dreams and tell her that when she is scared, to trust that her magic will guide her through.

✨🌀🚨ARTIST INTERVIEW🚨🌀✨

Q & A👇

Q: Have you turned down commissions? If you have, what was the reason(s)?

A:Yes, and maybe not enough lol. Usually something about the commission is just out of my wheelhouse or area of interest, or a price isn’t agreed on. All of that has gotten clearer and easier to communicate over the years. I used to try to say yes to everything, and doing that goes from being helpful to a hindrance very quickly.
💖
Q: What is one thing that has surprised you about the art industry?

A: That the most amazing things are accomplished out of sheer audacity– or is it the curiosity of play? The visionaries dare to see something come to life, and they don’t let humble materials, unorthodox environments or their own marginalized perspectives deter them. It’s funny because in my mind “art” and “industry” are two very different beasts. When they come together you experience this awkward push and pull of imaginary/material, individual/collective, innovation/tradition. No one, no matter their experience or position in the industry is exempt from navigating that balance, the dynamics of which constantly change with technology and shifting values. What IS “good” really, or WHO is it good for? So many of the rules I had in my head going in weren’t even real. Technique matters for sure, but it doesn’t matter if no connection is made from one heart to another. So, how does an artist or an institution learn the technique of making a connection, and how do you nurture it to last? All that to say- every awesome moment in art started with someone who believed in something so much that they made it real. That belief is contagious, and needs to be reforged at every new level of the game, scaling indefinitely.

A lot of great insights from Sarah Peck 👆
