A quick little shout out to my favorite oyster haunt @silverslipperwinebar for fueling me before heading over to the DSA for their opening of Luminous Flow.
.
My mocktail and oysters were everything I needed to feel inspired for a night of talking to photographers. It is one of the few spots to snag fresh oysters.

42 and feeling fine. Last week we wrapped up mine and Oskar’s birthday week — Luella is up next in 10 days. Busy month, but filled with love, laughter and spoils.

Been busy in the background with a GREAT sale next week and full restock at @tastybirdvintage too.

Silos 📍
So many great food vendors here (Nood Bar being my favorite!!)
The upstairs is such a cool vibe with all the plants 😻

Silver Slipper📍
Wine, cheese, warm marinated olives…need I say more?

Press📍
Hands down the best coffee and matcha in Dayton!
They also have an amazing organic wine selection.

Culture📍
A cool, casual spot with the best comfort food.
Pro tip: If you order online via the link in their bio when you’re leaving your hair apt, it’ll be ready for you to pick up by the time you get there! Talk about convenience!

Pepp & Dolores📍
My all time favorite spot in Cincy. The food is always fresh and delicious. Get there early and grab a spot at the bar. I prefer the downstairs bar because it’s dark and moody..super romantic 😻🫶🏼

Film theorists have spoken of the “blind field” — everything that exists just outside the camera’s frame. What isn’t shown often carries as much imaginative weight as what is. Paintings operate in much the same way. Every composition implies a larger world beyond its edges, inviting viewers to mentally complete the scene.

Encaustic House performs a curious reversal. Rather than imagining what exists outside the frame, viewers step inside it. The picture plane expands, and the spectator becomes part of the composition itself. Armstrong removes the frame entirely.

This article rewards slow reading, so pour yourself a coffee this Sunday morning and geek out with me over the miniature, the gigantic, and the picture plane in this important work by Dayton, Ohio artist @z____a at @westonartgallery

What happens when a work of art becomes a cocktail?

Artini is seeking Dayton-area bars, restaurants, and mixologists to participate in this one-of-a-kind celebration of creativity on August 27, 2026.

Participating teams are paired with a local artist and challenged to create an original cocktail or mocktail inspired by their artwork. Along the way, you’ll showcase your creativity, connect with new audiences, and compete for Artini honors voted on by hundreds of guests. If your team loves creating memorable experiences, we’d love to have you join us.

Interested? Contact Curtis Bowman at cbowman@cultureworks.org.
