For Direct Entry Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP–FNP) student Nodira Rahimhodjayeva ’26MSN, ’27DNP, her motivation to pursue a career in nursing sprang close to home.

Her father worked as a urologist in Uzbekistan and later became a charge nurse after immigrating to the US. In 2019, he founded a nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area to help Uzbek immigrants adjust to life in America.

“I wanted to be someone who is as helpful as he was, and I thought nursing encapsulated a lot of his personality,” she says.

Rahimhodjayeva appreciates the straightforward educational path Simmons offers. "It’s so nice to have a hands-on learning experience and actually apply what you are learning in class,” she says. “You recognize things you learn in class by seeing how they present themselves in person.”

Direct entry Nursing student Hunter Lynch ’26FNP works as a registered nurse (RN) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and aspires to one day become a nursing educator.

"Nursing is unlike any other profession…" he says. "...being able to see someone improve — or even being able to give someone comfort in the last days of their lives — is just so rewarding.”

“Simmons (@simmons.nursing) enables us to obtain a higher-level nursing education that will open a lot more doors career-wise,” Lynch notes. “They cover many areas within primary care. You get to spend more time with patients than doctors or physician assistants, and you can also open your own practice.”
