Manaslu vibes and the AGA Adventure team ❤️🏔️

I miss every bit and every bite of our Manaslu journey. Although I couldn’t make it to the summit due to the weather conditions, I experienced so many ups and downs, laughter, tears, challenges, and unforgettable moments along the way.

Manaslu gave me memories and experiences that I will carry with me forever. It was truly one of the most beautiful and emotional journeys of my life.

To my amazing AGA Adventure team.wishing you all the very best on your journey ahead. I miss every one of you and every moment we shared. ❤️

Until we meet again… Manaslu will always have a special place in my heart. 🏔️❤️

A few words about our amazing Manaslu team 🏔️❤️

As we bring our expedition to a close, my heart is full and a little heavy. It’s really hard to watch people who have put so much time, effort and passion into a dream have it taken away. The weather on the mountain this year was unforgiving: constant rain and snow, and now a dangerous cyclone hitting the mountain as I write this. Basecamp has already seen over a metre of fresh snow. Sometimes the mountain simply says not this time, and keeping everyone safe will always come first.

Each and every client on this trip brought something special:
Tom, an absolute sweetheart, so determined yet so loving.
Dave, the machine. Nothing will ever stop him!
Simon, as prepared as mountaineers come, meticulous with admin and just a little bit crazy 😂
Ben, the family man, strong and quiet, the rock of our group.
Sang, our Nepali queen, full of determination and beauty 👑
Pepe, so eager to learn and develop as a climber and always pushing himself to the max.

And of course, the backbone of this expedition, our incredible Sherpa team and Basecamp staff: Ongchhu Sherpa, Gelu Sherpa, Tiger, Tenzi Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Lhemi Sherpa, Ang Dawa Sherpa, Saila Dai, Chirring, Pemba Tamang and Tej. And of course Kanchan in Kathmandu. From setting up a beautiful Basecamp, to carrying loads to Camp 3, to supporting our clients every step of the way and cooking the most insane food, none of this is possible without you 🙏

We are so proud of every single one of you. Manaslu will still be there, and so will we.

Much love,
Gelje & Adri 🇳🇵

Schreckhorn 4,078 m. One of those days we won’t forget anytime soon.

Often considered the most difficult 4,000er in Switzerland by its normal route, the ZS+ Southwest Ridge gave us a proper adventure: over 18 hours from Schreckhornhütte to the summit and all the way down to Grindelwald station.

After a very short night, we got up at 1:45 AM and started at 2:30, crossing the Schreckfirn in darkness and reaching the start of the climbing at 3,450 m before 6:00.

From there, around 600 vertical metres of climbing up to 4a lead to the summit. About 400 m below the top, however, Simi developed stomach problems. We took a longer break and seriously considered turning around. After some rest, an Algifor and a caffeine shot - a combination I’m not sure I’d recommend in hindsight 😅 - he suddenly felt much better and we decided to push on.

Shortly before 10:00 we stood on the 4,078 m summit together with several of the climbers we'd met at the hut. The panorama was incredible: Grindelwald and even Bern in one direction, endless glaciers and mountains in the other, with the Eiger and Finsteraarhorn standing out in the distance.

Then came the long way down: around 20 rappels, where we teamed up with another rope team we'd met the night before Not sure our two rope system actually made us faster 😄, but by the end we'd perfected it and made two new friends along the way.

Back at Schreckhornhütte we quickly repacked and continued down at 17:30. The last Pfingstegg cable car was already gone. When we finally got reception, I realised my last train home was leaving in less than two hours.

So after already being on the move for around 16 hours, I started running. A while later I looked back and saw Simi running after me. 😂

We made the train.

It’s amazing what the body can still do when you think there can't be much left. Sometimes you only find out when you push it a little further.

Home at 00:30, falling asleep almost exactly 24 hours after the alarm.

A huge day, great friend, an incredible mountain and an adventure I won’t forget.
