Did you know UNC has world-class faculty? 🌟 Huge congratulations to our very own Ludek Drizhal, who was nominated for a prestigious Public Choice Award for the film, Starbright! 🏆🎶 Reflecting on this incredible recognition alongside industry giants, Ludek shared: "It’s a real honor to be in the company of such incredible composers. Daniel Pemberton, Simon Franglen, Kevin Smithers, and Marcelo Zarvos are truly among the best in the business. I have tremendous admiration and respect for each of them, and it’s a privilege to be mentioned alongside them." Our students have the unique privilege of learning directly from world-renowned creators who are shaping the future of music and film. Huge thank you to Andy Bill, and LA Percussion Rentals! 🙌🥁 Such an incredible experience recording the iconic Gong Drum in Dolby Atmos for @valleyofthehorntak This legendary drum belonged to percussionist Emil Richards and has been heard on countless incredible film scores over the years — including Avatar, scored by the amazing @simonfranglen . Getting to record an instrument with this much history, and capture it in Atmos, was pretty special. 🎬🔊🔥 Special thx to @shepherd.stevenson and @mikeraznick for helping me! @maxwellmorro @danmcmellen @derrickallenhuff @lapercrentals #ValleyOfTheHorntak #DolbyAtmos #FilmScoring #lapercrentals #SoundStriker

In times when artificial intelligence can write a full, usable film score in minutes, what does this leave for the composer? Moderator Thomas Mikusz sits down with COOL Music Group CEO Darrell Alexander and composers Simon Franglen, Martin Phipps and Adiescar Chase for a frank conversation about the corporatisation racing through screen music. A little late in posting, but I wanted to share some memorable moments from the @screenmusicprogram I attended in Belluno, Italy this summer. This experience has truly been one of the most inspiring of my life. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved; the incredible staff, insightful guest speakers, the talented quartet @uranicaorchestra , and the dedicated audio engineer @thebasementvicenza who brought our music to life. A special shoutout to the extraordinary composers who attended and shared their wisdom. This journey has been unforgettable, and I genuinely hope we can all stay connected as we continue our creative paths. 🎶✨ Let’s go SMP 💪🔥 - credits to @leomeloro for my potentially new headshot lol #screenmusicprogram #filmcomposer #filmmusic #stringquartet
