You will be missed by every person who was lucky enough to meet you, Laura.

@laurahamesfranklin was one of the first friends I made when I moved to NYC in February 2004. We taught ballet together and cleaned the studios to be able to take as many ballet & yoga classes as we wanted. She was passionate about dance and health. She would often be frustrated that words seemed to fail her because she thought in images and movement rather than words.
She was a wonderful example of how to live a full and vibrant life in NYC, making her dreams come true, and keeping a pure and generous heart and playful spirit, no matter what.
We became close friends, regularly having sleep-overs and house parties, delicious home cooked meals and unforgettable get-a-ways to the Catskills and Fire Island that usually included dancing in the woods in the moonlight or skinny dipping in the ocean.

This first photo was years later when I had moved to Mexico and was back in NYC just to shoot a film and on my day off, Laura accompanied me to pick out my wedding dress. The dresses quickly became the least important part of that day, and what I remember most was laughing and talking the whole afternoon. It was such a fun and happy day. She told me how happy she was in her marriage with Eric and all their plans and travels. I never would have guessed that was the last day we would spend together in person.
I have no eloquent words yet to share my grief. It has barely even begun to sink in, I don't yet believe it.
I can hear your voice, I can see your smile and your twinkling eyes perfectly, I can imagine you so clearly right here beside me.
My young, healthy -perhaps my healthiest- friend is no longer here. But you never were made for this earth. I hope your spirit is twirling and dancing in even more wonderous ways than your body could allow.
My deepest sympathy to @ericnoelfranklin . Thank you for all the joy and adventures and love you shared these past 10 years! She loved you very much!
And to her mother @barbarahames I am so sorry for your loss. I am so grateful you were able to be with her.
I hope her father and brother find solace. Love to you all.
