Two founders met for the first time at one of our dinners recently. They lived on the same street. Neither of them knew the other had a company. They'd waved at each other walking dogs for two years. There is a common theme with entrepreneurship: by default, you go invisible to the people around you. Your neighbours don't know what you're building. Your in-laws don't get it. Your closest friends ask polite questions and change the subject. So you grind alone in a house surrounded by people who could have been your support network... if you'd only ever met them. That's why community has to be intentional. By default, you'll never find them. By design, you will. We had our first FounderLink Founders Dinner in Kelowna this month, and it wont be our last. It was a mix of people local to Kelowna and people visiting - and we've had a ton of people ask when the next one it. The population of Kelowna is about 166,200. People often think you have to be in a big city like Toronto or Vancouver or New York City to find founders and build connections. You don't. You just have to look for each other, show up, and be intentional about connecting. (We try to make it easier with Slack and the online community - but in person matters.) Thanks to everyone who came out, we hope you found some good connections. DM me for details on future dinners and founder events.
