Day 1 of the 2026 West Coast Championship on Clear Lake is in the books! We have managed to make it to the top of the leaderboard but staying there is going to be a whole other challenge!! @simonsaysher is right behind me and has been on an absolute tear this year in the local tournaments! What an amazing weekend!! Here's how it all went down:

Friday - Went down to camp with the Fire Crew and even joined into @joeysilvafishing YouTube Livestream for our pre-tournament predictions and some good banter! Be sure to drop him a sub on the channel for some amazing content!!

Saturday - The YAB solo event....I had a slow start to the morning, but finally made it over to my main spot and started upgrading. When all the dust settled, I ended up with 86.25", good enough for 6th place and cashed the last check!!

Sunday - The YAB team event with my boy @simonsaysher! We had a good game plan fishing 2 different areas, all we needed to do was execute. Simon started off strong with a couple solid 17" fish to start off the morning. I went back to my starting spot and filled our limit, including our biggest at 20.25"!!! After a couple more upgrades from Simon, we found ourselves in 2nd place at the end of it all!

Had the chance to try out my new @lews_fishing custom Lite spinning Combos and Custom Pro casting reel and I couldn't be happier! Lightweight, strong, sensitive....everything you need for a good tournament setup!

Time to keep the momentum going! Thanks to everyone who has supported me through this journey! It has been amazing so far!!

I’m still in slight disbelief that this actually happened. Last weekend I took fourth place in the @bass_nation Bassmaster Kayak Series on Clear Lake and qualified for the national championship at Lake Murray in South Carolina! I’ve been bass fishing off and on for the last 25 years but have had many hiatuses from it over the years, and even when I did go I was just fishing from the bank. After finally getting a kayak in the last two years and fishing a lot more, I’ve built enough confidence to start fishing tournaments this year. I’ve always felt I was a decent fisherman but just never thought I’d be able to put it all together at an event at this level.

Earlier in the week in practice I had done pretty well, catching 100-102” per day and knew if I could replicate that on game day I’d have a fair chance at doing well. On day one I had 93.00” and ended the day in fourth place. Day two was a little slower for me but I was still able to put together an 89.25” limit to keep me in that fourth spot by the end. I kept things old school (as that’s pretty much all I know lol) focusing on shallow cover targeting willows, tules, and grass. I caught the majority of my fish flipping a @magnumbaits Punch Beef. My biggest fish was caught on a @snagproof Zoo Kick. Also had a few fish on a @beastcoastfishing Flippin Delight and a @missile_baits D Bomb in the @bl8nkt exclusive Delta Bug color.

I’d like to thank my family and friends for all the prayers, encouragement, and support. Thanks to my coworkers for covering my shifts, allowing me to practice and fish these tournaments. And of course thanks to Bassmaster for bringing this tournament to the west coast and to Steve Owens @steve_owens_0207 for running a great tournament. Congratulations to Matthew Brannon @theoutdoorpowercouple on the victory and to all the other top finishers! #bassfishing #kayakbassfishing #bassmaster #clearlake
