Heading to the grocery store? Grab a reusable bag instead to avoid single-use plastic. 🌿 Image by @simplyzero_

Each time you throw away food, you throw away money. 😨💸 Food waste shouldn’t be a problem –– with proper planning and storage, your food can last longer in the fridge. Stasher bags are a great reusable solution to single-use bags; they create an airtight seal to retain freshness and can go straight from freezer to stovetop. Convenience that doesn’t cost a negative environmental impact.

Plus, we love the variety of colours and sizes available! Other great uses include storing snacks on the go to holding your daily necessities.

Natural and chemical-free, doesn't this sound a-peel-ling? Don't discard your citrus peels, give them a new purpose by soaking them in white vinegar to create a sweet-smelling multi-purpose cleaner. Citrus fruits contain d-limonene, a natural solvent that cuts through grease and dirt, making it effective enough to use all around the home. 🍋

1. Fill a glass jar with any citrus rinds –– lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit –– and pour distilled white vinegar until all rinds are covered to prevent any mold from forming. Make sure it's only the rinds, we don't want any flesh in this!
2. Leave it to infuse for 2 – 3 weeks.
3. Transfer into a spray bottle and dilute by adding one cup of water to half a cup of infused vinegar.

As white vinegar erodes marble, you don't want to be using this on your precious marble or stone countertops!

𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲: 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨⁣
⁣
In this series, as the pandemic continues to upend the retail realm, we want to introduce you to some of our favorite Brick and Mortar shops. Here at Fat and the Moon, we’ve been stoked to notice a big rise in the number of refillery shops who have reached out to us about wholesale of late, it’s a trend that we’d love to see continue to grow and an inspiration for us to seriously up our bulk game. This week @simplyzero_ founder Rachel tells us about the regenerative mission of her shop Simply Zero and it’s home in Cincinnati.⁣
⁣
“Simply Zero is a sustainable lifestyle shop, refillery and community located in Cincinnati, OH. Sharing our passion means everything to us. Our mission is to support and educate others who are consciously considering the impact their lifestyle choices have on the world. We want to help our community find a more sustainable, fulfilling lifestyle that enables them to give back, connect thoughts, share ideas and stories that uncover a better way to live simply for the planet.⁣
⁣
Our shop is located in a neighborhood in downtown Cincinnati called Over-the-Rhine. It's one of the oldest historic urban neighborhoods in the country and is home to a bustling small business community (many of them women-owned!). When it came time to decide where to open our first shop I knew this is where it had to be. We share the street with some of the cities most-loved bars, restaurants and boutiques and have received such a warm welcome from them all in the few months we've been open. We're very happy to be in such great company and provide such a needed resource & service to our community!”⁣
