SWIPE RIGHT to hear some of the awesome soundtrack for SINGHS IN THE RING. The original music in our documentary truly packs a punch. Gagan Singh fused elements of cinematic orchestra, Punjabi harmoniums and percussion, old western, 80’s synth, meditative and soulful vibrations, and full on bombastic battle music. The film weaves together themes of hardship, triumph, love, loss, cultural identity, sport, choice, and most of all… family.

We’re honoured to be nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for original music. I am so proud of everyone’s hard work on this film - producers, editors, cinematographer, colourist, and all involved. Shoutout to the late great Sunny Sidhu - this one’s for you!

#iSAFF2025 Day 5 carried the energy of triumph and transformation.
The spotlight feature Singhs in the Ring set the stage for an unforgettable conversation with Raj Singh, Raj Deshi, Gama Singh, and director Akash Sherman, as they reflected on heritage, barriers, and the power of representation.
A night that left us uplifted—and deeply inspired.

Had the honour of moderating the Q&A Panel Discussion for Singhs in the Ring at iSAFF this year. It was a pleasure sitting down with Director Akash Sherman and cast members Gama Singh, Munraj Sahota, and Yuvraj Dhesi (F.K.A. Jinder Mahal) for a great conversation about the film and their journeys.

Proud to announce the official soundtrack release for @singhsinthering out now on @applemusic @spotify @amazonmusiccan @youtubemusic and all streaming platforms.

What an honour to create music for the legend of the Great Gama. Growing up a big time wrestling fan, this project was a dream come true: a special thanks to @shanefen @akashsherman @scoreg @truerajsingh @rajthemaharaja for their belief and support throughout.

This is a special one.

Much more to come.

Creating Music for Sport has always been a great dream of mine and this year was a great step towards that with the opportunity to compose the score for @singhsinthering . If you haven’t had a chance yet, check the movie out, wrestling fans or not, it’s a heartfelt story about a wrestling lineage.

I had the absolute honor of hosting the Rosie Awards by AMPIA this year! Two years ago, PUSH was nominated for a few awards, and Brian and I got to present one. Pure chaos! Brian almost announced the winner before the nominees 😅

So when they asked me to host the entire show, my flabbers were fully gasted. ME? Host an award show? Wild. But your girl always says yes to anything that pushes me out of my comfort zone.

I prepped my monologue, the team built the script, and I caught the afternoon awards hosted by the legend himself, Rick Bronson. Intimidated? Absolutely. But they asked me for a reason…I’M FANTASTIC ON STAGE.

That confidence got tested when a few tech issues hit during the show. But I’m adaptable and excellent at winging it. Every one of the 36 Rosies was presented, and I swear Shane Fennessey accepted half of them 😂

Huge shoutout to Simons for dressing me in a stunning Ralph Lauren gown. Of course, your girl did a mid-show wardrobe change and took off my wig to show my big, bald, beautiful head. The crowd’s love and support (plus a few random kisses on my head!) meant everything.

Massive thanks to Desiree and Melissa from AMPIA, Chris Duncan from Production World, and Jackson, my handler for the night. Having a handler makes me feel so fancy.

I loved seeing so many people with determination (disabilities) in the crowd and on stage. My guy Nick crushed his sit-down comedy set, and the amazing Ashley King, a blind creator from Calgary, took home an award for Static: A Party Girl’s Memoir. Crip Trip took home many awards and they just made it back from filming season 2!

Here are a few Alberta-made projects I can’t wait to watch (and you should too):
🎬 Alberta Adapts with Ryan Straschnitzki
🎙 The Sugar Momma Show
🧠 Brainstorm: Unraveling the Mystery of the Brain
🎭 Static: A Party Girl’s Memoir
🕊 The Birds Who Fear Death by Sanjay Patel
🤼Singhs in The Ring by Akash Sherman & Sunny Sidhu & Shane Fennessey
🧑🏼‍🦼Crip Trip by Fred Kroetsch & Daniel Ennett

Alberta is full of incredible talent. Let’s keep watching, sharing, and supporting our local creators.
