POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I had a fantastic time with @singing_mynah & @leonhamid as @jasminechenshanghai, @wvcjazz & @jazzzzaj serenaded us with Shanghai jazz and brought us on an epic journey of aural pleasure.

Catching up with the very talented folks from the local music scene all gathered together under one roof - talk about the serendipity that the revolving doors of a Jao Tim brings! - was such a treat as we swapped stories on how we share the love for jazz.

Kampung baru china exploration: we started off with a dai chow meal of lard tong, curry g yoke, fa diu guy, followed by a drive and a walk through the narrow streets of the settlement. When settlers were given a piece of land to eke out a living by the British government in the late 40s - to separate Chinese people from communist insurgents - they simply made lemonade out of lemons and made do with it. Today it has modernised a great deal and there are very few tell tale signs that will point you to its history eg irregularity in road widths, demarcation of plots of land between one property and another or even street signs in Chinese. Overall, it’s a charming place to explore on a weekend afternoon.

So good to catch up with LK and Leon again after - what feels like an eternity - a two year hiatus.
