Conversations through passion, 1 dram at a time with 10 years of experience working with trusted brands
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Time. Time is a funny thing.

And some... times I need just that to properly reflect on something.

Recently I was invited by International Beverage - the likes of @oldpulteneymalt @cardronadistillery @larsencognac ) to share in an evening of milestones, a celebration of time. Normally I would post more quickly after an event like this but I wanted some time to mull over my thoughts.

In 2026, each brand reaches a key moment - 200 years for Pulteney, 100 for Larsen and 10 for Cardrona. The room was filled with energy, and joy - one of those nights I remember longing for in lockdown when you just wanted to inject that buzz of in person human laughter and warmth into your veins but couldn't. There were conversations about their brands but also their work, their passion and their desire to continue creating stories into the future. The drinks were wonderful, and came with an opportunity to try that rarest of things: single malt aged over 50 years - as @iamsarahburgess shared some of this legacy malt around the table.

But what I couldn't help notice? How each of the speakers was someone I admire but who is also female. Now, I'm very well aware the 'women in whisky' conversation has been talked about at length. I'm well aware that women have always (ALWAYS!) worked in whisky. And I'm well aware that there are thousands of women working in it today, many of whom have a much broader voice globally through the likes of social media beaming stories around the world. But having a whole evening of stories told by women leading their brands is still a relatively new thing.

For me, 2026 also marks a milestone - I started Miss Whisky 15 years ago, on an October night in 2011. In my mid-twenties, and with only the gusto of youth to propel me, I got involved at a time when whisky blogs were only just really gaining true reaction, when Twitter was new to us, and when Instagram was a flicker of potential in some developer's mind. I got involved because I loved whisky and, to be honest, I was exhausted with trying to explain to men (mostly) that I could actually like it as a 20-something.

A day in the country to round off launch week for The Director’s Cut, Rosemaund’s third release.

We began with clays and a little friendly competition at @ejchurchill, before heading to West Wycombe Park for Boulevardiers, mixed by Alex from @blackrockbars from the back of a classic Range Rover.

Venison from @veniandson followed, then the prize-giving, with the day’s winning shots taking home bottles of The Director’s Cut - our 10-year-old English single malt, limited to 3,000 individually numbered bottles.

Thank you to our hosts, partners and everyone who joined us. A fitting close to a memorable week.

We’d love to make this an annual fixture, with a few more places at the table next year. Do let us know if you’d like to join us.

What a fantastic evening it was last night! A pleasure to attending the premier of @pressurefilmuk with @talisker
#taliskerbythesea /AD

Absolutely gorgeous pre drinks from Talisker, following by walking on the red (blue this time) carpet, and watching the film with the cast and crew (which was great btw, a must watch! I’m not usually into war films but I loved this and the story behind it!) Followed then by more Talisker cocktails at the official after party!

Truly incredible experience! 🥃🎬

Scrap the coffee catch up… how about we share a vintage dram instead? 🥃

I love buying a shiny new bottle of whisky, but lately I’ve realised I love buying old ones just as much.

Alongside learning about whisky’s newest releases, hunting for hidden gems from the past at auction has become a bit of a new hobby of mine. There’s something so fun about finding bottles and releases you’d probably never come across on a shop shelf today.

In this case, it was a Strathmill 1985 miniature I picked up from @wvawhiskyauctions which I saved to crack open with my good friend CJ from @singlemaltvault

Even better, we realised 1985 happens to be his wife’s birth year, making this little piece of whisky history feel even more special to share.

Because my idea of catching up with friends now involves digging out tiny bottles of Scotch distilled before I was born instead of going for coffee and to be honest, it’s a vibe I highly recommend😂

New releases are exciting, but when it comes to discovering whisky from the past, I think I’ve found another rabbit hole… 🥃

What’s the best hidden gem you’ve ever found at auction?

🥃 A little appreciation post for the people who make whisky what it is.

Whisky is obviously about what’s in the glass, but the more time I spend in this industry, the more I realise it’s the people around it that keep me excited about it.

The people who’ve taught me something, challenged the way I think, opened doors, shared a dram, shared their knowledge, championed what I do, or simply made me want to keep learning more.

This carousel is a little thank you to some of the faces who inspire me in whisky every day, for very different reasons, and probably sometimes without even realising it.

There are, of course, far too many brilliant people to fit into one post.

Whisky might bring us together, but it’s the people who make the industry worth sticking around for. 🥃❤️

Here’s to the ones who’ve shaped my whisky journey so far, and the many more I’m yet to meet.
