Due to a lack of new horizons and restrictions towards real travelling; you are going on a trip anyway. So, fasten your seatbelts. Travel light, think light, remove the shit that weights you down, look to the horizon in front of you and your feet will lift of from the earth....Before you know it, you will discover some new things on the road and your horizon will widen again. Welcome to the arm balancing month!!!
~
~
So I hear you thinking ….”but why I should do these monkey circus things?”
That taste of flight captures the soul and has yogis around the world wanting to taking off and soar again. Luckily, arm balances are not only addictive, they also have amazing benefits for overall health and wellness.
Here some benefits of arm balances:
~

- help to prevent osteoporosis
- strengthen the balance reflexes and prevent falls in daily life
- Balance the Body, Mind and Soul
- Boost Prana Flow
- Gives joy and lightness of being
- Encourage Positive Self-Esteem, Self-Worth and Self-Confidence
- Face your fears
- Change your perspective

This month we will focus on chest & heart- opening asanas and breath work that will help you and encourage you to come into small - and maybe some deeper versions of backbends.
•
Backbends can be for many of us a scary or even an imposible direction to go to. When entering a backbend one can feel vulnerable or exposed and the body blocks. For some of us, backbends are even more challenging than going into a handstand. When preparing our body in a smart and safe way and developing love, compassion, and affinity towards ourselves, we start to surrender and soften what will help us to go “backwards” in all meanings of the word on a physical, mental and emotional level.
“By tuning in into our heartbeat, we tune ourselves into the resonance with the core rhythm of our organism and the rhythm of the world around us. “~A. Judith
•
•
Backbends benefits when properly executed:
Relieve anxiety and stress, relieve insomnia and restlessness, massages and flush kidneys, learn that limits are self imposed, gain bravery, strength and trust, stretch your abdominal muscles & internal organs, gain new perspectives, opens your mind and heart to new possibilities, improve breathing, relieve chronic back or neck pain, bring your spine back to its natural flexion, relieve anxiety and stress, let you slow down and help facing the present.

End of the season of my teachings in Mallorca. Time to let rest my physical body and maybe focus on some other biomechanics movements.
But there is still a change to come to see me in Belgium where I will host a 2hr vinyasa flow class focused on the hips. Sunday 18/8, 10hr. @yogaoncall Gent. Otherwise, meet me in Savasana. 💙😎
Keep cool and enjoy your summer everybody!!

Sandra Wijkman: Is my first yoga teacher and her first class already hooked me to yoga. Her voice is like a golden « reserva honey », it just buzzes into your head as a soft mantra, impossible to ignore. Her classes are accessible, challenging and always different. Not a single class has been the same in these 8 years beeing a student from her. Her energy is inspiring, it sends out softness and build up strength in almost each pose. Her classes are built in a very organic way; physical under-build, and mentally well fed with facts of theory and spiritual knowledge. She is light as a person, reads her students and you feel healed each time after her class. She has a great sense of humor what brakes the unnecessary seriousness in a class. Sandra is so authentic in her teaching and real as a person, she walks the talk and isn’t too etheric, in my point of view. I love her quotes, dharma talks and daily personal anecdotes that she brings to the class to reflect or just to share with her yoga family. I’m so happy to be part of your yoga family. Sandra, I will never forget you, just because how you let me feel. All the best to you and your family on your new paths. Embrace the change, so will I. Bless you fallen feather. 🕊See you soon!! Love you❤️ ~
