Today on World Adoption Day, I can’t think of a better way to recognize adoptees than participating in the Adoption Changemakers Conference this weekend. As an adoptee and nurse practitioner, I am committed to providing adoptee competent care that includes a trauma informed approach and sensitivity for how difficult navigating heath care can be for adoptees. Unknown family history is NOT the same as No family history. Adoptees deserve an approach that centers them and the unique challenges and uncertainty they may face. Swipe left for some of my insights caring for adoptees.

The debate should not overshadow the importance of screening with a history of breast cancer. Screening should include annual mammography with an MRI at the 6 month interval (6 months after mammogram) for women with:

*a history of breast cancer diagnosed before age 50 or

*a history of breast cancer and dense breast tissue.

As a trauma survivor and nurse practitioner, earning my certification as a Trauma Informed Care Practitioner was both a personal and professional goal of mine. I meet people everyday who have been touched by trauma. It is so important to me to know that I am doing all I can to care for them the best way I can. Personally, learning more about trauma and sharing my vulnerability has helped me continue to heal and have more empathy for others~especially those also touched by adoption. To those I know and those I don’t, know that I see you and I care💐

Now my AuDHD diagnosis journey begins...

After 32 years of living a "normal" life, things all suddenly changed when I found out I was pregnant. I remember people telling me that memory loss and "baby brain" were "normal" and they might never go away, but that felt so wrong...

You might have noticed things have been a lot quieter around here - while we have had a lot going on, I've most certainly not been my usual organised self. The last 2 years have been utter chaos, but now I've figured out the cause and doing something about it, I'm finally starting to feel more and more myself.

Since I worked out 6 weeks ago what was going on, I've implemented tools and strategies which are helping so much.

My best advice to any new mam is if you're not happy or confident in the changes in your body from pregnancy, don't dismiss them. This has been a life changing discovery.

I'd like to thank @suziediamondcain and all of my family friends and work colleagues who've been so supportive. I was really worried people would start to treat me differently but thats never been the case, now we all know the symptoms (was only 2 pages of a4 for the doc to read 😏) we can't believe we didn't see it sooner 🤣🤣🤣

Of course if you'd love to hear more, the full story is over at organisedwright.com/audhdandme which I'll tag on stories
