POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The exhibition, Motherhood As Muse, @concordart goes far beyond the generic idealization of motherhood. From the opening with curators and artist talks, to the lively panel discussions, to the book that accompanies the show, to the community it nurtured, every single thing has been done with love and care.

This show demonstrates how giving and receiving care are necessary in every life. Making the time and space for artmaking is an act of care, strength, and vulnerability. It nurtures self-preservation, hope, and good health while simultaneously showing your children that you can do something that you love. For me, making is an act of replenishment and I am able to be a better caregiver as a result. Every artist wrote about how their work became more expansive, more complex, and more tender because of motherhood. The sheer endurance, determination, and grit of all the artist mothers who are making it all happen everyday never ceases to amaze me.

Thank you to @debpeeplesart and @geismarart for your thoughtful curation and @concordart for hosting! The show is up through Dec 20th so go see it before it’s gone!

Generations Table, Oil on Canvas, 60” x 72”, 2025
This piece is about family, food, and the storytelling that occurs between generations while sitting around a table together. I painted each person’s skin tones to match their surroundings, spiraling from darkest on top to lightest on the bottom, so that they would all blend into the space to keep the focus and light coming from the table itself.

When I first met Dan, he didn’t cook. Throughout our marriage he has not only learned to cook, he has become really good at it. Feeding a family is no small task and we spend a lot of our time together organizing, cooking, and eating food. At the end of the day, finding joy in the work we do and the people we are with is what matters most. @daweissman_ “Meal Prep”, collage on paper, 20”x15”, 2022

Last night was a dream come true! Thank you @praise.shadows.art and your incredible team, my entire block from Cambridge for willingly being in my paintings and coming out, all my best girlfriends, and @siouxxxx and @daweissman_ for encouraging me to be a full time painter. I could not have done this without my community. photo credit: Matilda Biscaldi for Praise Shadows Art Gallery
