Spent our Sunday night judging the cocktail competition at Luna Nueva Tequila alongside great friends, great food, and even better vibes. It was incredible to see some of the top bartenders from across West LA showcase their creativity, technique, and passion behind the bar. The level of talent on display made for a tough competition and a memorable evening. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success. we paid incentives to get our tequila into as many bars as possible. that was the mistake. the bottle shows up. nobody explains what it is. the bartender never heard the story. never tasted it. never learned how to talk about it. then a real fan walks in. someone who knows your product. orders shots for their friends. the bartender can’t find it in the computer — so they ring up casamigos instead. the bottle gets poured. it just never gets logged. the bar’s data shows zero sales. they don’t reorder. the bottle disappears. you lose the account. you never know why. the data says you failed. but nobody ever gave you a chance. so we stopped chasing placements. work with bars where you belong — where the staff is educated, where the bottle gets poured. one good account beats ten bad ones. repeat that three times. the wrong shelf kills you silently. the right shelf sells you forever. save this. do the work. salud.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

When you host as much as I do you have cocktails batched and ready to serve. Let’s make a batched Old Fashioned How to: - Pour 4oz out of a bottle of bourbon or rye (preferably 100+ proof) - add 3oz of a rich simple syrup - add 24 dashes of Angostura Bitters - add 12 dashes of Orange Bitters @scrappysbitters Store in a cool dry place. To Serve: Pour 2.5oz over a large cube Garnish with Lemon, Orange and @luxardousa cherries. ENJOY!
