Another year being an assistant coordinator at the @texas_stage_combat_intensive in the books!
Glad I was able to teach a few classes of my own & had the blessing to train with some incredible performers. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

What a joy to work with @juniorplayersdallas on Shakespeare With Henry again, now in partnership with @cafemomentum.dal! @sircajdar and I worked through Macbeth and Banquo encountering the witches today and had some fun with movement and fight choreography to establish a playful physical language between the two of them (what a journey that will be…)

Such a joy to collaborate with @sircajdar, @rasamanmusic, @rrc_bcc, and @frankdarkoofficial, and an HONOR to work with amazing folks at Café Momentum! (If you came to @dallaschildrenstheater’s Enchantment/ reimagined gala, they did the incredible food)

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that being good at a skill automatically makes someone a good teacher.

It doesn’t.

Teaching is its own skill.

Knowing how to break down movement, adapt to different learning styles, troubleshoot mistakes, build confidence and create an environment where people actually want to keep coming back, that’s what actually makes a great instructor.

That’s exactly why I created Freestyle Staff Teacher Training.

If you’ve built a solid foundation, love helping people learn, and want to bring Freestyle Staff to your own community, I’d love to have you join us.

Yeah, I’m R&J posting a little late, and y’know what? I’M ALLOWED!

Barring a one-night-only reading as Lady MacBeth (in which I displayed a startlingly low vocal range and a secret passion for regicide), this production of Romeo & Juliet was my big return to Shakespeare! I haven’t been in a Shakespeare play since 2019 - and that one was Romeo & Juliet too. I also have a tattoo on my arm, a Shakespeare quote from… take a wild guess. ;)

Everything seems to trail right back to these two houses, and despite me being so aggressively team Capulet going in, playing Mercutio showed me that being a Montague (or at least dying for one) ain’t all bad either. What a FUN ROLE! What a SAD ROLE. What an AWKWARD AMOUNT OF CHARCTER WORK I HAVE AMASSED (7 movie iterations and 4 proshots, various links to AO3 to read some mercutio fanfiction, writing my OWN mercutio fanfiction, but hey, who’s counting?). I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to play this role and stepped in Mercutio’s shoes for as long as I did. Merc, you’re my favorite loverboy that hates love EVER. Hope nothing bad happens to you or something 😝

I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with such a gracious and supportive cast and crew! Everyone was so supportive and made this experience totally unforgettable. From getting a nosebleed mid-callbacks to everyone getting a sinus infection mid-tech, we overcame every obstacle and managed to put on one AWESOME SHOW. Whether it was swordfighting or working out the kinks of having me bartend during the Queen Mab monologue, we ate down. Super proud of the crew and cast that worked so hard to make this happen!

Saying goodbye again to Verona - but I’m sure I’ll be back. It’s not like anything happens to anybody there, right? ;)

Plaguing both your houses,
Mercutio Escalus 🗡️🥴💙

Last April I had the honor of being a part of my first World Premier!

"Hooey-Has and Foofaraws: The Compleat Button Man's Picket Fence Party Planner"

I got to watch my fellow actors from the sidelines every night, and with each watch, they would make me laugh at something new. Plus I got to die on stage, which is kind of awesome!

It was an absolute privilege to be chosen for this role! The casting was perfect, and that is thanks to our amazing director and writer of the show, H. Russ Brown!

Romeo + Juliet

You are a show I will forever hold a special place in my heart.

While Lady Capulet was my biggest role yet, she was a character of many complexities and just down right mean but I’m grateful for the challenge as it pushed me to be a better actress and appreciate Shakespeare so much more. Thank you Megan Guerra and Natalie Shaw for taking that chance on me!

Now, I won’t miss having to mourn the death of Tybalt (Kyle) on stage every show but I’m so proud of the work Kyle did to bring that character to life… and his sword fighting was pretty freaking cool haha!

To my Capulet family - Mark, Piper, and Laura - thank you all for being incredible scene partners and being so supportive. Shakespeare is so daunting and I usually hide away in my dancer bubble but yall made me feel safe to really explore this beautiful story ❤️ Love you all and can’t wait for the next story we get to share!

Cast and Crew - you all were a dream to work and perform with! It was an honor to create art with each of you and I look forward to the day our paths cross again!

With all my love,
LC
