YAGA and @sisteringdropin are proud to partner on an initiative that gives back to women and gender-diverse people in our community.

With the support of @blink49studios and @cravecanada , a portion of every “Women? We’re Angry About Everything” merchandise sale will go directly to Sistering, a Toronto organization that has spent decades providing care, community and essential support to those facing houselessness, poverty and isolation.

Swipe to learn more about Sistering, the incredible work they do, and how to access their services.

If you or someone you know needs support, Sistering’s Bloor Street drop-in is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This week’s Women in Beer Wednesday is a personal one for me. Jenn Gibson was my first female hire on the brew crew, ten years ago.
She didn’t have a whole lot of hands on experience back then, but she had passion, and something I have said countless times: for me, passion is one of the most important qualities a person can bring to this job.
Jenn worked with me for two years, moving from cellaring to brewing. She is the one responsible for starting our now annual International Women’s Day fundraiser for Sistering. She is funny, genuine, an advocate and ally and someone I consider a dear friend.
I could go on and on about what an amazing person she is, but I will let Jenn tell her story in her own words. Here it is:
“Beer had always been my drink of choice, so when craft beer boomed, I was excited to try every style I could get my hands on. While open to everything, I developed a love for stouts, brown ales, black lagers, and Irish Reds.
I worked years in office jobs so it never occurred to me that beer could be a career. But I had just moved to Toronto and craft breweries were popping up everywhere, so I decided to give it a shot. I started applying for entry-level positions at local breweries hoping that someone would see my passion and take a chance on me.
And someone did! Ten years ago I landed my first beer job at Granite Brewery. I learned how to brew and got to collaborate with Mare on special releases which led to the creation of the first IWD beer event for Sistering. I will never forget that experience and am so grateful for the doors Granite opened for me.
