If you told me that I would see past my 21st birthday, I wouldn’t have believed it. Here I am, now almost 25 years old and I couldn’t be happier and prouder of myself for being here and for being present. 7 years ago I was victim of a sexual assault that left me very depressed and suicidal. Today, I stand a survivor and founder of @sistersinsynch.ca a non-profit organization who’s mission is to bridge the gap between women’s lived experience and to support girls through their transition from girlhood to womanhood. It is my belief that as women, while our journey and path in life may be different, we share very similar stories. What connects us is our experiences and it is my belief that we should constantly be reminded that we are not alone and that there are women out there who’ve been there and who understand.
I #createfate through initiatives of support for girls and women. Through this, we hope that for someone who suffers from low self-esteem, they will be able to receive tangible tools and resources to help them navigate our ever changing emotions and feelings of ourselves. We hope that for a someone who had no idea how they could afford prom, they can feel reassured that we are there to provide them with one of the best experiences imaginable. For those who may not have it in their budget or may not know where they can get feminine hygiene products, that they may feel comfortable coming to us or one of the many shelters we contribute to. No one should have to live in the unknown and go through life alone.

From not knowing if I’d would see past 21 years old to being full of promise and positivity, I would like to let someone know that they are not forgotten and what is theirs shall make it’s way, just hold on a little bit longer.
