“Now is the luxurious time when we can grow old,” wrote @sitgesqueer’s partner as he navigated his life with Alzheimer’s. The Luxurious Time - A Queer Love Story is a play written and performed by Martin Lewton, and directed by @nathancrossansmith. Based on Martin’s own true story and the notes he kept while caring for his partner at home, this deeply moving (and occasionally funny) play chronicles the difficult decisions and profound moments that arise when the person you love succumbs to Alzheimer’s disease. It is a tribute to a lost love, a powerful demand for Alzheimer’s research, and a poetic reflection on our own mortality 🤍🌈 Don’t miss the chance to experience this unforgettable and vital piece of theatre. Get tickets for the UK premiere this week 4-6 June @omnibustheatre in Clapham. Grab your tickets to shows in London, Frome and Weston-Super-Mare in bio 🎟️🎟️ **Please note this performance shows a very real depiction of Alzheimer’s that some people may find upsetting**

“Where are we? Why are we here? Where are we going?” The Luxurious Time is a one-person play chronicling the artist’s life as the man he loves succumbs to Alzheimer’s disease, and the difficult decisions that have to be made. When dementia strikes, can the love survive? @theluxurioustimeplay opens in @omnibustheatre London on June 4th, kicking off its UK tour with shows in @merlintheatre Frome and @blakehaytheatre Weston-Super-Mare. The artist wrote the play based on notes he made while his partner was living at home. When @sitgesqueer went back to the notes he realised that this was a story that needed to be told as a tribute to the man he had lost - and to shine light on this terrible illness and to demand that more research be done. As his partner wrote in his own notes, “now is the luxurious time when we can grow old.” 🎟️ Ticket links in bio 🎟️
