🪬I’m currently the longest running pro dancer here in my city & I have seen it all through the years in our dance community. I was lucky to enter the scene in an absolute boom of work with very ethical & collaborative dancers - it wasn’t perfect by any means but everyone worked together & there was always so much work. I often reflect on this time with alot of questioning - why can’t we return to this mindset & what is the fear?

🧿What would it look like to have a united community - where despite personality differences, the community is able to thrive collectively through gig sharing, networking, and an overall support of each other?

🪬The amount of work and opportunities would flourish because people would work together through scheduling & sharing venues (allowing for a greater variety of entertainment which opens more doors for business for the venue), collaborating on providing excellent shows and events & standing together in solidarity if issues arise with venues.

🧿Having a growth mindset vs a “it’s all mine” mindset makes a strong & supportive community where new dancers are embraced & given opportunity as well as supports the local dancers in having a solid amount of work.

🪬”It’s all mine” creates a toxic culture for everyone which creates rivalries, miscommunication & distrust and everyone loses - people get sick of seeing the same dancer, the venues lose out on offering variety & other dancers are relying on scraps - often unethically being charged commission, referred crappy jobs or denied work in general.

🧿Many of us come to dance to find some sense of community & it sucks when the community doesn’t exist. I for one work better with others & for what I hear from others they feel the same.

🪬Prosperity is had through when all people have the opportunity and freedom to thrive. This is possible in our dance communities - and should be the goal.

🧿 I don’t know about you, but for me this makes sense.

I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MUSIC
Hi, fam! Now that this @beyonce tour is coming to an end, I wanted to share a mashup I did inspired by some of the songs from the Renaissance album. If you know this album top to bottom, then you’ll recognize the songs immediately. I chose three songs that really resonated and empowered me. Now that I’ve also recovered my old IG account, I am now gonna start posting more videos of me singing and definitely gonna start engaging and sharing more music with y’all! If y’all vibe with this video, please share, like, comment, all that good stuff!!!

Thanks to @camilovelandiamusic and @themysticalcrow for helping me put this together. Also, the cool mics we used from @roswellproaudio
