POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Mass Comm professor Greg Lee is bringing sports journalism students into the press box this summer. He’s leading 16 students through The Sports Journalism Institute at Arizona State. Their first assignment: covering the Phoenix Mercury vs. the Minnesota Lynx. Students completed a boot camp this week to get ready for their next assignment: working in newsrooms across the country. A special congrats to Loyola grad Samantha Guillotte, who will be at the Florida Times-Union.
The SJI began as a vision to open doors for students to add their voices to sports coverage in their local media outlets and bring new perspectives to the stories being told.

Don’t think the idea of “work hard, play hard” has ever applied more than it did this week 👋

Truly amazing, New York. I’ll be back soon.

Can’t wait to go back to He Cherokee Deli, eat $3 pizza and karaoke in Bushwick again. No better time than now to earn my first NBA credential. #PorVida

This summer, I celebrated my 25th year as faculty at the Sports Journalism Institute.
From covering WNBA and MLB games live on deadline to examining NBA Finals Game 1, these students were tested — and delivered.

Speakers like James Wagner, Candace Buckner, Logan Murdock, Rob Parker, and Baxter Holmes brought wisdom and edge. And icons like Wilbon, Malika, and Stephen A. Smith reminded us how far SJI reaches.

Grateful for this mission and the family we’ve built. 🖊️📸
