MACEWAN ASSAULTED AND ARRESTED STUDENTS SO WE’RE WALKING OUT OF CLASS IN PROTEST‼️ Students aren’t asking for anything unreasonable. While MacEwan hikes our tuition and assaults us using our dollars, students have been asking for transparency and accountability. It is not unreasonable to ask that our dollars not be invested in occupation. It is not unreasonable to expect OUR money to be spent on us, not on genocide. There is NO justification for MacEwan’s violence on Thursday. Countless students have reached out to report injuries. The arrestee is banned from attending a full week of courses during the busiest time of year. MacEwan needs to be held accountable for breaching all of our rights! But what they hoped would scare us into silence has only made us that much stronger. Our unity shocked MacEwan to its core, they have been scrambling ever since and their pathetic emails prove it. It follows weeks of surveillance, trespass notices, and misconduct charges against students for exercising their right to protest, while the administration refuses to meet with them. UALBERTA STUDENTS SENT A MESSAGE: OUR CAMPUS IS NO SAFE SPACE FOR RACIST EVENTS‼️ The University of Alberta rented the Maple Leaf Room, under its own name and its own logo, to Jesse Brown. He’s a man who went on CNN and blamed anti-Jewish hate in Canada on this country “tripling its Muslim population, and is someone who routinely defends the genocide against Palestinians. For THREE YEARS, this university has rushed to email every student, staff member, and faculty member on campus to make sure everyone knows it has NO association with pro-Palestine events. Vigils, protests, movie screenings, all of it. But when Zionists and white supremacists hold their events on our campus? Not one email, not even a single word. SHAME! Nearly 300 students, faculty, and staff emailed admin demanding they withdraw the rental and publicly distance the University from the event. They ignored every single one. So students and faculty sat in and stayed until the event was OVER. The racist speakers had to hide and sneak out an alternative exit to avoid protestors. This doesn’t end here. It is clear through these emails that MacEwan is attempting to frame this situation to fit their agenda. A reminder, Craig Monk is a vocal and public Zionist.
