Our Full Day campers continue skating after lunch with additional practice, games, skill development, and personalized coaching to help reinforce everything they learned during the morning session.

Since 2015, THE SKATESIDE has helped thousands of kids throughout Southern California discover the joy of skateboarding while developing perseverance, confidence, resilience, and respect. Every child progresses at their own pace, and our experienced coaches create a safe, positive environment where kids can challenge themselves, make new friends, and have an unforgettable summer.

Whether your child has never stepped on a board or is looking to improve their skills, we’ll meet them where they are and help them grow.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is showing young people that their passions can grow into something much bigger than they ever imagined.

Today I had the opportunity to visit @now_academy for Career Day and read our children’s book, @gromlinuniverse , to an amazing group of students. We talked about friendship, courage, perseverance, and the journey that led from being a kid who loved skateboarding to helping build @the_skateside and serving thousands of families throughout Southern California.

Career Day is about more than discussing jobs. It’s about helping students see possibilities. Whether their dream is to become an artist, athlete, teacher, entrepreneur, author, or something that hasn’t even been invented yet, every big journey starts with believing in yourself and taking that first step.

Thank you to the students, teachers, and staff at NOW Academy for welcoming us into your classroom. Seeing the excitement, curiosity, and imagination of these students reminds us why we do what we do.

At THE SKATESIDE, our mission has always been about more than skateboarding. We believe in building confidence, character, resilience, and creating positive experiences that help young people grow both on and off the board.

If you would like THE SKATESIDE to visit your school for a Career Day presentation, Meet the Author event, book reading, or student assembly, we’d love to connect. Reach out to learn more about bringing a Gromlin Universe author visit to your campus.

💙 MORE KIDS SKATING.
📚 MORE KIDS READING.
✨ MORE KIDS DREAMING.

There are moments that remind you exactly why you do this work, and this was one of them.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who made it possible fr @seeingoverlargeobstacles to help create an opportunity where children from South Central Los Angeles were able to receive free skateboarding lessons, learn new skills, build confidence, and experience the power of a community that truly cares.

Watching these young people step onto a skateboard for the very first time, seeing their smiles grow with every push, every fall, every victory, and every word of encouragement was nothing short of magical. What made it even more special was the village that surrounded them. The coaches, mentors, volunteers, vendors, partners, and community leaders didn’t just teach skateboarding—they poured love, wisdom, guidance, and hope into every child they encountered.

This was bigger than skating. This was about exposure. This was about possibilities. This was about showing our youth that their dreams are valid and that there are countless paths available to them beyond what they may see every day.

I am deeply honored and grateful to be a part of this journey. Thank you for trusting Seeing Over Large Obstacles to stand alongside your team in creating safe spaces, meaningful opportunities, and life-changing experiences for our children. Together, we are planting seeds that will grow for

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The dream is alive, and we’re just getting started. I look forward to continuing this work, building more opportunities, opening more doors, and helping our youth realize that no obstacle is too large when an entire community is standing behind them.
