OK EVERYBODY IT’S FINALLY WEDDING POST WEEK!!! “But Chantal, didn’t you and Ian get married a year ago?” Exactly! That’s why it’s the perfect time to post! (Also some of us bit off a little more than we could chew in planning this wedding and needed 12 months to recover………..) “Why Portugal?” you may also be asking? My grandparents eloped to Lisbon in 1961 so I’ve always thought it was the most romantic place you could escape to for a wedding ❤️ Exactly one year ago today, we kicked off the best four days of our lives (a cliché for a reason, I fear). After an arrival day of welcome drinks and @read_receipts + @chantal_ceramics gifts (more on that to come ¨̮ ), we began the first full day by giving everyone a taste of Portugal’s history and culture—starting with a private tour of Fronteira, one of the most beautiful (and still lived in!) palaces of Lisbon. We then returned to Sintra to the brand new Albuquerque Foundation, where Ian’s father Keith (curator of Chinese art at the Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art!) gave us an incredible tour of the collection. Many threads connected us to this location, and it was the perfect spot to see gorgeous ceramics chronicling Portugal’s trading history (shoutout to Mama, my Goan grandmother!).
