41 onions, 1 Master, and a whole lot of memories 🧅

Today’s outdoor class at Sanisimalai Andavar Temple was supposed to be about yoga and spirituality but as always our unique batch have our way of making everything lively.

41 onions, one patient Master, and countless moments of laughter. We came to work on ourselves, peel away our layers, and find inner peace… but somehow the onions are still the main character. 😂

41 Onions + 1 Master = One unforgettable Sadhana. 🧅🧘🏻‍♀️✨

No onions were harmed and only tears of happiness were shed 🤭😂🙏🏻

Today’s yoga class was definitely a memorable one! ❤️

Travelled all the way from Jelebu to Melaka, to Arulmigu Sannasimalai Andavar Temple. It was raining heavily early in the morning, so we had to drive really slowly.

Started our day by cleaning the temple and participating in the puja. The temple priest even praised us for doing such a positive deed!

Then comes the FOODDDD! As requested last week, Master treated us to nasi lemak with vege chicken rendang, meehoon, teh tarik and payasam! Trust me, everything was soooo SEDAP!

Next, we continued with Pancha Pranayama, where Master taught us 5 important breathing techniques to cleanse, purify and awaken our inner energy. We practised them, and the experience was simply SUPERB!

The most special part was getting to meditate in front of the Jeeva Samadhi for the very first time! The energy I felt was just MARVELLOUS! ❤️

Lastly, Master ended our class with a cute magnetic bookmark as a souvenir! ❤️

A Sunday well spent with good food, positive energy, spiritual experiences and lots of learning! ❤️🙏

This week Sutras with Master @skdurai

Sutra 1.22✨Mridu Madhya Adhimatratvat Tato Api Visheshah.

Patanjali explains that spiritual progress depends on the intensity of our practice.

✨ Mridu – Mild practitioner
✨ Madhya – Moderate practitioner
✨ Adhimatra – Intense practitioner

Master explained that even among advanced practitioners, there are different degrees of intensity.
What does it truly mean to be an Adhimatra practitioner?

It means being willing to let go of the worldly comforts and pleasures we have enjoyed so far in order to move towards our spiritual goal.

✨ Visheshah – Auspicious

Master reminded us that it is not merely about how long we practise, but how intense we are in our Sadhana. From waking up until sleeping, are we in our Sadhana? Are we applying it in our daily lives and thinking about others in every action? If we are friendly only to those who treat us well but show hatred towards those who dislike us, we have yet to develop this intensity.

Our ability to let go also reflects our intensity. If we lose the luxuries we once enjoyed but do not become consumed by sadness, it shows that we are learning the art of detachment. Some things we can let go of easily, while others remain difficult to release. This is where we must recognise the areas in which our practice needs to grow. When we are discriminated against, can we remain composed because we understand the truth? External value comes from wealth, education and status but the internal values we develop through Sadhana are lasting.

Great spiritual leaders may not accumulate external wealth, yet even the richest and most famous people surrender at their feet because of their inner value. The more we gather externally, the more we may lose in the future. Therefore, whenever we gain, we should learn to give and become selfless. It takes great strength to give.

🙏 Master’s loving reminder: Don’t be Adhimatra only when performing asanas. Be Adhimatra when treating people. Be Adhimatra in worldly life. The internal changes in our character also define our intensity.

Started our day with Surya Namaskar and prayers, followed by learning different types of mudras. Of course, a good breakfast in between is a MUST! We continued with balance mudras, and Master surprised us with the heart mudra Not in the syllabus, but definitely staying in our hearts!

Master’s punch of the day: “If you have principles in life, you are untouchable!” 🔥

Next came the serious topic of safe and unsafe touch. But with Master around, even serious topics turn into comedy sessions! “Touch to teach, don’t teach to touch!” We even practised handling safe touch with our fellow students.

Then Anu Akka demonstrated Jala Neti, and we all had to try it. Brain blowing experience, literally felt like my brain was having a water park session🤯

Finally, we discussed next week’s Malacca class. Since Master promised to belanja us food, we decided to test his generosity by suggesting MORE and MORE dishes! The best part? He casually agreed to everything! Now let’s see if he remembers what he signed up for!Can’t wait for next Sunday! ❤️

I never thought I could do a headstand, but here I am! 🧘‍♀️❤️

At first, I was nervous and wasn’t sure if I could do it. But with every practice, I’m slowly building my strength, balance, and confidence.

My journey at Dreamcatcher Yoga Lifestyle has taught me that yoga is not about being perfect. It’s about believing in myself, being patient, and not giving up.

I’m grateful for the guidance, encouragement, and support I receive throughout my yoga journey. Every little improvement means so much to me, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

I still have a lot to learn, but I’m enjoying every moment of it! ❤️✨

Imagine tasting the best tea at a shop for the first time. That wonderful first impression makes you want to return again and again. Over time, this repeated experience leaves an impression in the mind, known as samskara, and these impressions develop into habits (vasana). And the cycle continues.

Now, do you think it is easy to break this cycle?

Our lives are full of cycles. One day, we may be at the top; the next, we may find ourselves at the bottom. Life keeps moving through these ups and downs. But what truly matters is how we treat others, especially when we are at the top. Our position may change, but our values should remain the same. We should treat everyone with equal respect, regardless of their status.

"I am a humble person." Sounds good, doesn't it? But have we ever paused to examine what lies behind these words? Sometimes, even while claiming to be humble, we unconsciously compare ourselves with others or put them down. Master explained this so deeply, showing us how even a simple word can leave an impression and affect another person.

Everything in life moves in cycles, and breaking these patterns is not easy. Chakrasana, or Wheel Pose, became a beautiful reminder of this lesson.

At first glance, this asana may look adventurous. Many of us hesitate or feel afraid to attempt it. Yet, once we step into the pose, we may experience an immediate sense of energy and activation in the body.

Master demonstrated several variations of Chakrasana and explained how important our mindset is before attempting the asana. Beyond physical strength and flexibility, we need courage, trust and the willingness to move beyond our familiar patterns.

Breaking our samskaras begins the same way, by having the courage to recognise our patterns and take that first step towards change.

Thank you, Master, for guiding us towards breaking the cycles of our samskaras, both on the mat and beyond. 🙏

Life is a cycle… 🎡

That was how our class began yesterday. Master spoke about the impermanence of life and how everything is constantly changing. Those who are enjoying the best of life today may one day find themselves facing the opposite. That’s how life works, isn’t it? Nothing remains the same forever.

Master also shared a very important message about fame and money. When we become too attached to them, we may eventually find ourselves in a completely different position. The fame we once enjoyed may fade, and the spotlight that once shone on us may disappear just like that. That’s why it is always important to practice moderation in life and not become overly attached to worldly pleasures. In yoga, Brahmacharya reminds us of the importance of self-restraint, balance, and using our energy wisely.

After sharing all these philosophical insights, Master connected them to the asana of the day — Chakrasana!

Yesterday, we learned a few more variations and techniques to practice this pose. It was fun to attempt the different variations, as they allowed us to explore our own limitations, recognize our restrictions, and gradually discover what our bodies are capable of.
As always, Wednesdays are filled with so much knowledge, love, and laughter! ❤️

Thank you, Master, for another meaningful class and for reminding us that yoga is not just about the asanas, but also about how we live our lives. 🙏🏻

My YIC Batch mates usually tell me “I don’t know how you do this, this weekly travels and all” I usually take a bus on Saturday 11pm, reaching KL at 4.30am, shower & freshen up at the bus station itself and reach Kajang shala by 5.45am then taking the next available bus after class back but never once have I regretted this decision of enrolling in YIC or the distance because my Guru went through more than what I am going through today.

5 years ago when Tini Master did her YIC, there were not much bus choices, she too has a kid, works a full time government job, she is a daughter and wife. There would have been financial struggles. She went through one of the most devastating loss of her parent during her YIC, yet she only missed one class. If my Guru could do so much, what reasons do I have? She set the bar so high that any reason I could think of was too petty. I always thought “How much she must have loved this art and teaching that she went through all that yet remains soo humble?”

Now when I am in the journey to become a Teacher, I realise even deeper the sacrifices my Gurus have made. When Tini Master travels nearly 2 hours to take a class, when Master told us he has to go on certain diets to execute asana better, their injuries, their sadhana and so much more yet @skdurai @vibe_flow_with_tini remain soo humble and kind with not one ounce of ego.

People may aim for the stars and sun, I aim to be at least a small dust of what they are, in my sadhana, my teaching and life. Everything I become will always be samarpanam to my Gurus, for now and eternity 🫶🏽

Today, Tini Master wore our YIC Batch 24 Tshirt and the internal happiness I felt is something I cannot put to words 🥹🫶🏽
