Iceland might look small on a map, but seeing it takes more than a Reykjavík stopover 🇮🇸 remember to be a mindful traveler when visiting.

three things we’d tell anyone planning an Iceland road trip:

1️⃣ Reykjavík works best as the bookend. spend a day or two there when you land or before you fly home, but don’t make it your entire Iceland itinerary

2️⃣ outside the capital, a car is almost necessary. the Ring Road connects much of the country, but weather changes quickly, drives take longer than they look + pulling over anywhere you want is very much not the move 🚗

3️⃣ go north. Akureyri, Mývatn, Húsavík + the Tröllaskagi peninsula deserve more than an “if you have time” mention—and offer some of the best things to do in Iceland without the South Coast crowds

Taking my dad’s sister to Iceland and making memories we’ll both hold onto forever. ❤️🇮🇸

I first went to Iceland in February for my 40th birthday, and I knew almost immediately that I had to get back there. So when we were planning our trip in July, we decided to tack on two extra nights at the end and bring my aunt along for a little Icelandic adventure of our own.

My aunt wasn’t feeling her best on this trip, but that didn’t stop her from showing up, powering through, and making the absolute most of every experience. And if you know my aunt, you know she was going to do it in bougie fashion. 😂

But in all seriousness, this trip meant so much more to me than just getting to explore Iceland again. After losing my dad, getting to experience something like this with his sister made it that much more special.

There’s something about making memories with the people who knew and loved the people you miss most that’s hard to put into words. And I think there’s something especially meaningful about being with a sibling. They share a whole lifetime of memories, experiences, and pieces of someone that no one else can fully understand. Whenever I’m with her, I feel a little closer to my dad, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.

I’m so glad we got to have this experience together. More trips, more memories, and more life. Always.

Some days just turn into the most beautiful memories. 🤍🇮🇸

During our trip to Iceland, we discovered this incredible little café inside a yellow school bus, surrounded by the most breathtaking scenery.

What made this place even more special were the wonderful people we met along the way. So much laughter, so many beautiful moments and memories we’ll always look back on with a smile. 🥹

The location, the atmosphere, the people — everything about this day was simply unforgettable.

Iceland, you gave us another memory we’ll treasure forever. ✨
