POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My most recent curatorial project has been extended. Let There Be Light, a group exhibition exploring beauty, grotesquerie, and absurdity within the human form, is now on view through December 12, 2026, at Cannonball Arts.

More than a year in the making, followed by months of planning, coordination, shipping, fabrication, and installation, this exhibition has reinforced my belief that something requiring so much collective care also deserves the opportunity to be fully experienced, absorbed, and shared. When something is meaningful, allowing it to remain accessible a little longer holds value in itself. This extension creates an opportunity for the incredible work in the exhibition to be encountered more slowly, more thoughtfully, and by more people.

Every Saturday from 1–5PM, the exhibition is open on a pay-what-you-can basis through December 12. Creating consistent and accessible opportunities for people to experience the show, regardless of their ability to pay, is important to both me and the venue. I’m grateful to Cannonball Arts for making this continued access possible.

One of the things this exhibition has reinforced for me is the importance of bringing artists and artworks from different places, backgrounds, and practices into conversation with one another. Each artist approaches the figure, identity, beauty, absurdity, representation, and the human experience through an entirely distinct perspective. Yet, when brought together, these individual approaches begin to inform, complicate, and expand upon one another. The exhibition becomes something more than a collection of individual artworks; it becomes a space for unexpected connections, contradictions, and new ways of understanding not only the work itself, but also the world we inhabit and the necessity of experiencing art within it.

A big thank you to all of the participating artists for trusting me with your work, your ideas, and your perspectives. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to bring these practices together.

SEE THIS SHOW @cannonballarts through Dec. 12, 2026

October 1st.
I’ve been carrying this one for a while.
The Lonely Matador is a collection of places I’ve been, people I’ve loved, things I’ve lost, and parts of myself I’m still trying to understand.
Some of these songs feel like memories. Some feel like dreams. Some I probably wasn’t ready to share when I made them.
I wanted to make something that felt like home without having to explain exactly where home is.
This is probably the closest I’ve gotten to putting that feeling into music.
The Lonely Matador.

Birthdays wouldn’t matter if it weren’t for the company that makes life worth living! A small assemblage of moments this past year with a few of my favorite people, if you ain’t here, then remind me to take a pic ( but know I prefer being in the moment rather than to capture it). Thank you all for another year of laughter and joy! 🖤

There has been some blood, lots of sweat, and a couple of tears getting this show off the ground, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all. We’re about a month away from opening, and I couldn’t be more grateful for, and appreciative of, the village and team it’s taken to bring this entire production to life. We are truly moving small mountains to make it happen.

This show is comprised of an incredibly compelling group of artists whose work not only resonates with the themes and ethos of the exhibition, but whose practices, ideas, and influences reach beyond the limits of any single show, concept, or container. Thank you to all of the participating artists, their galleries, and their friends who have helped with the heavy lifting—this exhibition quite literally would not happen without you.

Let There Be Light acknowledges our bodies and behaviors in exaggerated ways that make them beautiful for the same reasons they might otherwise be deemed revolting. Within the show, alternative binaries emerge; ones that have the power to unsettle narrow ways of seeing. And by severing the tension that exists between celebration and censorship, the exhibition positions light and dark not as opposites, but rather as partners in dance; intertwined, in tension, and always in motion.

In the most limited terms, Let There Be Light can be described as an exhibition of figurative work. The works within the show resist fixed definitions of the body, prescribed materials, or singular historical readings of ‘the figure.’ Instead, LTBL embraces the figure as a site of continual exploration, reflecting visual art’s enduring impulse to examine bodies, their boundaries, and the beauty, grotesquerie, and absurdity that define them.

Going to start posting small groups of artists because I have so many I still want to share. This wonderful trio is inspiring in the beautifully singular way they each handle figuration in their work.
