Can't wait to get out at night again to capture the magical night sky!!
We had lots of bad weather this winter and spring and when there is new moon weather gets bad again so no luck for me at least the last couple months and being busy...missing the clear night skies💯

Whirlpool Galaxie / Whirlpool Galaxy (M51)

🇬🇧 Today‘s picture of the Whirlpool Galaxy shows my progress within the past 2 years of astrophotography 😊
When I took the first picture 2 years ago, obviously I used smaller equipment, in this case a mirrorless camera with a Telezoom, mounted on a small star tracker. The outcome of it you can see on the last image.
For my new image I used my Photonewtonian, a cooled astrocamera and a bigger equatorial mount.
I’m really thankful as well, that I was able to improve my processing skills a lot in the past two years.
It‘s an awesome feeling to sit in front of a space image you took by yourself and to be satisfied and happy with it, especially when you‘ve put lots of hours of work into it 😊

The Croc’s Eye Galaxy

Messier 94 (also known as NGC 4736) is a spiral galaxy in the mid-northern constellation Canes Venatici about 17 million light years from Earth. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781, and catalogued by Charles Messier two days later. Although some references describe M94 as a barred spiral galaxy, the "bar" structure appears to be more oval-shaped. The galaxy has two ring structures.

M94 is one of the brightest galaxies within the M94 Group, a group of galaxies that contains between 16 and 24 galaxies. This group is one of many that lie within the Virgo Supercluster (i.e. the Local Supercluster). Although a large number of galaxies may be associated with M94, only a few galaxies near M94 appear to form a gravitationally bound system. Most of the other nearby galaxies appear to be moving with the expansion of the universe.

Imaged with Astrodon LRGB filters.

Total integration: 8 hours 45 minutes

First Quarter Mineral Moon ✨

Last year, around this time I shared an image of the "Last Quarter Mineral Moon" and said that it was my most detailed shot of the Moon, but this ones definitely a bit better than that in terms of details.

Here's the first quarter mineral moon, captured this in the month of February, wanted to post it today because, exactly a year ago, quite a few things changed! What an amazing and crazy year it has been!

Using the same Mosaic Technique, for this image, I captured more than 38,000 frames in different Jigsaw pieces over the entire Moon's Surface. I used two different cameras, ZWO ASI183MC & ASI462.
The higher details were captured with the ASI462. Processing this image took more than 3 days, both my PC & Laptop are done with me. This image is around 150 megapixels! (The previous one was only about 52Megapixels.)
