on september 3rd @voiceesea x @chelsealaylo opened their doors to an exhibition on the filipino british identity.

I feel so grateful to have been part of this exhibition, as an interviewee, panelist, attendee, food prepper, volunteer, researcher.

thank you to every single person who attended.

the shared identity, our kapwa, was felt in every fibre of my being. every tear shed, every laugh shared, every difficult conversation was part of something so much greater than any of us individually.

this is only the beginning.

we're here, we've always been here 🇵🇭🇬🇧

Singing and performing arts are Mikko’s first love and passion. He is inspired by his mama Margie and papa Conrad Jr. In the Philippines, he was challenged to do theatre & amateur singing competitions locally and nationally. With no formal training, Mikko was able to land lead roles for local productions like Tom Galvez with 14 original productions of Kindred Hearts 2 in 2010 and Marius Pontmercy, Lés Miserablés with 30 full adaptations all over Cebu & Bohol in 2011 onwards. He is a 3-time Region 7 Leg Semi-Finalist of OPM@Pagcor’s National Talent Competition. Mikko pursued his nursing career in 2011, and decided to emigrate to the UK in 2015. Living in London with his family, he continues to relive and reignite his love and passion for music and enjoy life’s highs and lows. 🇵🇭

✨ Join us for the launch of SALO SALO: Come Together at Oxo Tower, London ✨

Salo-salo is a Filipino tradition of gathering, sharing food, stories, and community. It fosters togetherness, connection, and a sense of belonging.

For our third ECHO history exhibition, we invite you to join us as we explore the British home through a Filipino lens. SALO SALO celebrates the generations of Filipinos who have built lives, families and communities across Britain, tracing stories of migration, resilience, care, culture and home.

Join us on opening night as we share the nostalgia, sacrifices, flavours and memories that shape Filipino-British experiences. Through photography, soundscapes, artefacts and contemporary art, discover a rich history that stretches from Liverpool’s Little Manila in the 1800s to today’s thriving Filipino communities across the UK.

Come together. Come hungry to learn.
