Tonight was incredible
Getting to go see the people I know as my teammates and friends compete, doing the thing they love with everyone else.
Person I’m most happy for though tonight was Jaden Salsbury. The man is a savage in the ring has one of the brightest future when it comes towards his athleticism and skill within martial arts. He is one of my best friends and getting to see him do what he has been dreaming for was the one of the most warming, incredible and inspiring moments in my life.
This man has been there for me in my darkest moments and on my brightest days and getting to see others cheer for him was what truly made my day. Hearing the crowd roar and chant for this man. This man will go far. Good work Jaden, we are all proud of your work, your effort, your dedication, and you in general.
Stay strong mate.

Find something you give a damn about and go after it.

For these fighters, it’s martial arts. For you, it might be starting a business, building a family, or finally chasing that dream you keep talking about.

You don’t have to step into a ring to understand what they’re saying. Find something worth showing up for. Put in the work. Let yourself experience what happens when you actually commit.

What’s worth chasing in your life?

Lock in. You control you.

Sit at a desk all day, then walk into the gym and finally get to move. Hit pads. Challenge yourself. Have some damn fun.

Jayden talks about how boring sitting in school can feel compared to training. That excitement is something we understand. Like being a kid in a candy shop every time you get to do the thing you love.

Training takes discipline, but it can also be the part of your day you look forward to most.

What’s the one thing you look forward to after a long day?

You control you.

They had 79 matches. Some had 100. Jayden had two, and he was only 15 competing against adults in jiu-jitsu.

Looking at their experience made him nervous. What helped was keeping it simple. Focus on his job, accept that his opponent would fight back, and have fun doing what he trained to do.

Fast forward to TBA. As soon as his hands were wrapped, he was excited to get out there.

You can respect somebody’s experience and still trust the work you’ve put in.

Have you ever counted yourself out before you even started?

You control you.

One cleaner rep. One quicker decision. One mistake found and corrected. That is how real confidence is earned, not by waiting until you feel ready, but by showing up enough times to prove that you can grow.

Flow sparring has become one of the most valuable parts of my training camp.

Not every round needs to be a war. Some of the biggest improvements happen when you slow things down enough to learn. Flow sparring gives me the opportunity to experiment with new techniques, improve my timing, and build good habits without worrying about taking unnecessary shots to the head.

It also helps prevent injuries and allows me to get in more quality rounds throughout the week. Instead of constantly recovering from hard spars, I can maximize my training, stay healthy, and continue sharpening my skills day after day.

Having training partners who understand how to flow spar is something is so important. It takes trust, control, and respect from both people. Those rounds are just as important as the hard ones.

1.) Vertical Jump / Counter Movement Jump
Testing overall power / Force production
Although it's great to test,
it tells you nothing about how quickly the athlete can produce force.

2.) Reactive Strength Index (RSI)
jump height / ground contact time
How well can the athlete produce force after reacting with the ground. Use a depth drop, bounce off the floor, redirect force upward. Twitchy athletes have high reactivity. Think springy or elastic qualities here.

3.) Ground Contact Time
How long is the athlete contacting the ground? You could produce a lot of force, but if producing high forces quickly important for combat sports (or almost any sport for that matter).

Improve GCT to improve how quickly you produce force, increase strength to improve force production. You need both.
