This week we are supporting @queer.ascents as they raise money to invest in communal gear! We will be accepting donations on their behalf between now and September 24th. By donating to this cause you are supporting local queer climbers who do not have their own gear, but want to climb 🌈
.
HOW TO DONATE - send us a Venmo @artandsoulslo with the caption “Queer Ascents” so we assure your donation land in the right place!
We also accept cash and checks (learn more at artandsoulslo.org/donate).
.
We will be collecting donations for Queer Ascents now through September 24th.
.
Are YOU interested in climbing?
On September 24th, @thepadslo is donating 50% of all day pass sales to @queer.ascents!
It’s the perfect opportunity to explore climbing while supporting your SLOcal queer community. We hope to see you there! 🧗‍♀️💞🌈

We had such an incredible time at @shabangslo! Comment a festival below that you think we should explore next! 👀
.
SAVE THE DATE: PrideFest 🌈 June 3rd @ Laguna Lake
We are so excited to set up our Pride Arch, interactive games, crafts, cozy pods & more at @centralcoastpride !
.
If you post photos with our Pride Arch or from the interactive area, tag #SLOpridearch or @artandsoulslo to be featured on our story and/or website! ❤️
.
Wholesome story alert: The first attendees to walk by the Pride Arch were a mother and two children. They stopped to look and one of the children asked what the rainbow was for. The mother spent a few moments explaining queer culture and that the rainbow is a symbol to let people know they are welcome here and loved no matter what. That moment amongst so many other beautiful memories and conversations shared within our interactive space are why we are so passionate about providing community + representation. Representation provides opportunity for inclusion and connections. Thank you @shabangslo for the opportunity to build an inclusive, creative space alongside so many incredible artists at a stellar location! ☀️

Join SLOMA on December 12 from 3–5 PM for the public premiere of "Celebrating Our LGBTQI+ Elders: Stories from the Central Coast" presented by the Central Coast Queer Archive Project.

For nearly two years, this collaborative and community-based oral history project has been pairing student and youth interviewers with senior members of the queer community, and has yielded an inspiring intergenerational portrait of the LGBTQI+ experience on the Central Coast. The event will begin with a panel discussion from the project participants paired with selected video clips from the archive followed by a Q+A with the audience. Admission is free and wine and light refreshments will be provided.

Following the presentation, an informal dinner gathering will be held from 6–8 PM at Taco Temple, 1575 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo. Seating is limited to COVID restrictions, so please RSVP to sloqueerarchive@gmail.com by December 5.
