Today we woke up in Valley of the Gods. This might have been our first real experience boon docking. Got to camp around 1 yesterday and enjoyed a quiet afternoon with some of the most beautiful landscape you could ask for. Our first this stop morning was just minutes from camp on highway 261, specifically the Moki Dugway. This is a 3 mile stretch of the highway, dirt, with a 10% grade and too many switchback to count. If I’m telling the truth I’m glad we waited till sunrise as no one else was out traveling the narrow roadway. After going up and then coming right back down we were off to one of Hollys favorite points along the road. The famous Forest Gump stretch of highway in Monument Valley, where he stoped his cross country run. After Mike appeasing her and filming in the middle of the highway they were off again. Next stop was Flagstaff for lunch and a little train action. Our waitress at lunch suggested we drive down 89A into Sedona, so of course we had to do it. When we started down 89A we had now idea just how beautiful that stretch of road was going to be. 89A also has a crazy 6% grade, crazy switchback road too. At least this time it was two lanes wide and paved. Neither one of us has visited Sedona and we are both blown away with the landscape. Definitely looking forward to tomorrow and exploring this part of the country. #sprintervanlife #husbandandwife #mokidugway #forestgump #89a

We had a great trail run- power hike, while camping at Cape Lookout Campground. Holly drug Mike out of his comfort zone and convinced him it was an easy 4.5 miles with minimal elevation gain. Little did she know that it would hold 1300 plus feet in basically 2.25 miles. But in true Lill fashion we pushed through and got it done. While huffing and puffing on some of the inclines we reminisced about some of our early mountain biking adventures when we chose the hardest yet most direct route to the top of the mountains, or more likely hills, in reach of the radio towers. Mike tried to remind Holly that the down hill was worth it but she had other memories 😆 This will no doubt become one of those great memories of enduring and pushing through while enjoying some epic views. Holly will continue to push Mike out on runs with her as she continues to become a “Runner” #husbandwifeadventures #capelookoutstatepark #trailrunning #powerhiking #corememoriesmade❤️

We headed back to the coast for the second and last shakedown run in the van, before heading out on our two week trip to the southwest. 25 degrees last night, our Velit heater worked flawless yet again. Best part was the bluetooth control allows us to turn it on and off from bed! Hooked up the @starlink.oficial mini so Mike can watch Supercross. You know this trip wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t able to watch. If you don’t live and die by Supercross are you a really even living? Figured out a couple last items needed for our first real road trip. Looking forward to higher temps hopefully and more blue sky’s in Arizona and Utah next week! Should be interesting adventure #vanlife #husbandandwifeadventures #vandog #velitheater #starlinkmini

Before we purchased the van we did a lot of research to see how we would build it out. Holly put together a budget and made the spreadsheet that outlined the entire project. Once the van was home the original budget and outline changed. We soon realized the original kits we thought we wanted might be affordable but not the best for longevity. Mike found this company called @sergsupply and we quickly realized their craftsmanship and product was superior to the “other guy”. And Holly was happy to take advantage of their Black Friday sales. We still kept it simple and went with their Murphy Bed System and Universal Kitchen in Pre-finished Maple. The build and delivery took about 4 to 5 weeks. But after getting the finished product. It was well worth the wait. Serg Supply has great YouTube videos which Mike binge watched, and by the time it all showed up he knew exactly what to do. Took a good part of the day to install the bed, kitchen, jerry can system after a couple modifications that needed to be made. Next step in our build is the diesel heater. Mike won on this purchase after convincing Holly that a couple hundred dollars now would be a huge pay off in comfort come February, when we make our way to Utah. Let’s hope this goes as seemingly as the Serg Supply install did. 🤞🏻 #sprintervanconversion #husbandwifeadventures #adventurevanlife #sergsupply
