SLOWE Living® is joining @shoreditchdesignweek 2026.

From 15–17 September, we’ll be at House of Icon in Shoreditch Town Hall presenting our evolving collection of British-made furniture and sharing the next stage of SLOWE’s work across residential, hospitality and commercial interiors.

SLOWE started with a simple question: how do you design furniture to stay useful for decades?

Our original Sofa Bed was designed around that idea. Rather than hiding a complicated metal mechanism inside, its construction is deliberately simple: the timber frame can be disassembled, upholstery removed, and individual cushions and components repaired or replaced over time.

It can move house. Adapt to different spaces. Be refreshed rather than discarded.

At Shoreditch Design Week, we’ll be talking more about how those same principles can work at a larger scale with architects, interior designers and specifiers - from private homes and residential developments to serviced apartments, hotels, hospitality and workplace environments.

For us, these projects all come back to the same principle:

Produce less. Make it useful. Make it last.

📍 Stand S22, Shoreditch Town Hall, London
📅 15–17 September 2026

If you’re an architect, interior designer, specifier or simply interested in what we’re building, come and see us.

From the gentle art of business card etiquette to bowing and dining with clients, Japan has always been a place I’ve dreamed of SLOWE Living calling home.

Much like the Japanese re-appropriated the craft of American denim, I’ve drawn from the country for my own inspiration back home. Even since school, whether it was Nintendo, Pokémon, yo-yos, car culture, fashion etc or later in design school - Japanese design, craft, and nature have been a constant source of belonging and creativity in my ideas and projects. It’s where I always start.

In 2017, I moved to Japan to experience life and travel there firsthand, with the view to establish deeper personal relationships within my field of design. I met some incredible friends and began to understand how the culture works more intimately -particularly in terms of business and how brands connect with their customers. I even started learning the language (albeit it’s very, very rusty now). It was always a dream to have a presence there.

Japan is a country that moves quickly and looks ahead, but always takes a slow, thoughtful approach to doing things with authenticity and care, with an emphasis on strong relationships. Over the years, I wasn’t quite sure how to get closer to working with Japanese businesses as SLOWE wasn't born.

However this recent trip, I was able to meet new partners like @usmjapan , visit showrooms such as @homesteadltd , and gain insight into what @baycrews is doing in Tokyo retail. None of this would’ve been possible without the hospitality of my old and very close friends @archieanishigaki and @youhgwr . I’m forever grateful and proud of our transpacific friendship through the last 8 years.

While SLOWE doesn’t yet have a presence in Japan, the sun is rising - in true Japanese fashion. I’m extremely excited about the conversations that are beginning. Japan, I love you.

☀️ In conversation with Oliver 🌙

We’ve opened up a conversation about inner contradictions with 7 friends, inviting them to explore their relationship with their own ‘sin’ or ‘shadow’ side.

Our dear friend @milllanedrummer has embraced the exploration of his relationship with ‘Gluttony’ through an introspective writing exercice and a discussion.

After using the ´Gluttony’ soap during a 3.5 week period, he gave it back and allow us to capture an archival image of its use and a portrait of him.

This diptych aims to reveal the new shape of ‘Gluttony’ and its significance, offering insights into personal transformation.

Our goal is to spark conversations, fostering introspection through a participatory campaign. We wanted talents not just as observers but as active learners, gaining insights not about the external world, but about themselves 💗
