Unbelievable. Just... WOW. I just had the most unbelievable conversation about Photoshop editing and Primfeed's policies regarding Second Life. I've been working with Photoshop on Second Life-related projects since 2006. I've done commissioned work for clients, magazine covers, and so much more. I work with brushes (and of course, these aren't Second Life items — they're Photoshop brushes, either built into the software or imported into it), PNG layers, lighting effects, feathers, and all kinds of small elements that bring photographs to life. I use brushes to create smoke, lighting, bokeh, and other effects. I build my compositions layer by layer, carefully adding, painting, drawing, and blending elements together. And naturally, those brushes and PNG layers aren't objects that originate from Second Life. Now, after 20 years of Second Life photography, digital art, painting, and drawing with a graphics tablet, I'm being told that not only is AI-generated content prohibited, but apparently, adding ANY elements that don't originate from Second Life isn't allowed either. Which means that the way I've been creating art for nearly two decades — building compositions in Photoshop, adding little details, painting, drawing, and bringing my images to life, layer by layer — is no longer acceptable. Or rather, I'm still allowed to create it, but I'm apparently not allowed to share it in the Primfeed gallery. I honestly cannot believe what I'm hearing. I could cry. This has been my hobby, my passion, and such a huge part of my life for 20 years. And now I can't even share my artwork in the gallery as I've always done? Instead, it all gets thrown into the same big AI category? Even though the kind of Photoshop editing and digital painting I'm describing has absolutely nothing to do with AI? This is going way, WAY too far. It's taking all the joy out of creating art. Not just for me, but for so many artists who pour their hearts and souls into their work. Where do we draw the line? When did creativity become something that needs to be restricted rather than celebrated? My God. Where is all of this heading?
