hello world! a year ago I asked a bunch of friends if they would be down to cover songs from local sac bands for a charity compilation to benefit @norcal_resist.

I asked Ash at @rosa_mortem if she would be down to record live sessions and mix them, and @stylesmunson if he would master them. both of them, with infinite generosity, somehow said yes. thank you thank you thank you.

Of course we have some classic artwork from @datgrain, born of an abstract love of sacramento's art & music.

The release date is still pending (sooner rather than later) but starting today you can pre-order the comp & get @slugfeast_'s insane cover of "Love Collector" by @dogpatchtheband. link is in my bio 🫡

Though this compilation doesn't even begin to cover the vast diversity of genre and talent that exists across Sacramento's music scenes, the folks that agreed to do this truly made some incredible stuff, and I can't wait to share it!

ok love you,
zack

This week on the show we're putting a spotlight on @mastoids916 - a pillar of the local heavy ass punk music community. Speaking personally, Mastoids is one of the first live bands I saw when moving back to Sacramento in roughly 2018, and I was immediately blown away by their stage presence. The immense sonic scale and size they bring to the table makes it frankly shocking to know they're just a three piece. They make music fitting of their name - all consuming. Genre blending hardcore, emo, noise, and punk, they've crafted their own path and vision outside of general conventions. Mastoids is cool, confident, and powerful yet thoughtful, clever, and deceptively deep.

Airing on @kutzfm every week Thursday at 5pm and Fridays at Noon to hear them premiere! 95.7FM Downtown Sacramento and 97.3FM El Dorado Hills AND always streaming online KUTZFM.ORG

Please consider donating to KUTZ to keep us on the air! We only need $1200/month, so even a $5 donation goes a long way!

This weeks playlist includes;
@sacramentopunkshows - highlight on @quininefanaccount
@mastoids916
@slugfeast_
@softiesoftiesoftiesoftie
@aquageist916
@fleeting_joys
@blindeyeslive
@tovidence
@imbue
@quininefanaccount
@dezire.ca
@quinkana___
@dream99_worldwide

Playlist for this and past episodes available through link in bio, full recorded episodes available soon through Mixcloud.
