Quite the collection of Wood on the Water this Year!
Thanks to all that bravely captained their vessels down the the rocky river last weekend. Our Float was joined by 40 people on the water with 13 of the 15 wooden boats in attendance making it down the Upper Colorado River.
It was a successful Float and a Great Party afterwards. Floatoberfest saw over 80 participants at our @rancho.del.rio riverside tent for the food and festivities. We want to be sure to thank the camp sponsors including @charcutnuvo for the sausages and our beer sponsors: @highsidebrewing @steepbrewingcoffeeco @woodsbossbrewing. Plus @smallcraftsales for helping bring us Live Music from @localfolkband

Most Portable Micro-rafts Only Exploring Garage and Basement Floors

“With the blessing of my editor and publisher, I launched a full-scale undercover investigation into this mystery. Between June and August of 2026, I visited eager sellers across the country to paint as accurate a picture as possible of the American personal micro-raft hopeful, and find out why their dreams had been seemingly shattered. Since they weren’t on the official record, I will use aliases but note their actual locations and ages. What I’m presenting here are the most common responses to the series of questions I asked each seller.”

Quick Flylab PSA on founder Tim Romano and his multi-week Colorado River float through the Grand Canyon…

The flash flooding on Bright Angel Creek caught everyone by surprise, and tragically, there are still people unaccounted for. We’re hoping everyone is okay.

Tim’s group was about 600 yards above Phantom Ranch when the flooding happened. Thankfully, there was a motor rig ahead of them that was able to turn around and tell them to pull off.

They spent a few nights in a makeshift camp, and messaged that they were planning to push out late in the morning and keep heading down river.

In Praise of the Homely Jon Boat

“There is plenty to dislike. Aluminum amplifies every sound. Drop an anchor, kick a tackle box or roll a beer can across the floor and every fish within casting distance will know exactly where you are. The metal gets brutally hot in the sun and painfully cold when the temperature drops. Throw down a seat cushion and try not to drop anything. Problem solved. Mostly.”

BID NOW!!! Just a few hours left to take advantage of this smokin deal! Link in Bio!! Small Craft Sales is proud to partner with @risers4rett and the Rocky Mountain Rett Clinic @rmrett
at Children’s Hospital Colorado on a very special boat auction.

Dean May’s nearly untouched 15-foot @adirondackguideboat is up for auction, with all proceeds supporting Rett syndrome research and families affected by the disorder.

Built in 1998, it comes with custom oars, a paddle and trailer. It’s elegant, easy to row and finally ready to do what it was built to do: get on the water.

The auction runs through Sunday, August 9.

A beautiful boat. A worthy cause. And hopefully an owner who won’t make it wait any longer.

Check the LINK IN BIO for a link to the auction page, a detailed story on the boat, learn more about Rett disease and a comprehensive listing page about this incredible vessel. Delivery from Colorado not included.
