Every client should feel like they received the value they paid for. 💈

Not every haircut takes the same amount of time. If one client’s service is quicker, I may use that extra time to add a hot towel or another small touch to their experience.

Your price isn’t just based on how long the haircut takes — it’s based on the value and experience you provide.

Make sure every client leaves feeling like their money was well spent. 🔥

When fading around locs, control is everything. 💈

One wrong move with your clippers can cut into a loc that took your client years to grow.

I like using clipper-over-comb because the comb creates a barrier between the clipper and the locs while still giving me the control I need to create a clean, consistent fade.

Protect the hair. Take your time. Get the fade right. 🔥

Enhancements should enhance the haircut — not become the haircut. 💈

The goal is to create a clean, natural finish without over-applying product or making the hairline look unrealistic.

Start light, build gradually, and blend everything into the client’s natural hair.

With coarse or curly hair, shaving technique matters. 🪒💈

Going against the grain can create an extremely close cut, but for some clients that can also increase the risk of irritation, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs.

That’s why preparation is just as important as the shave itself. Using steam helps soften the hair and skin, making the hair easier to cut with less resistance.

Know the hair. Prep the skin. Let the razor do the work.

A beard wash should feel relaxing — not like you’re cooking your client 😂💈

Before applying a hot towel, always test the temperature on the inside of your arm first. Even after testing it, ask your client if the temperature feels comfortable once it’s applied.

Small details like this are what separate simply providing a service from creating a great client experience.

Comfort. Communication. Attention to detail.

Let the razor be the razor. 🪒

One of the easiest mistakes to make is applying too much pressure. A sharp blade doesn’t need to be forced — your job is to guide it and let the tool do the work.

Less pressure = less irritation, fewer cuts, and a more comfortable experience for your client.

Technique over force. 💈

Sometimes the best move is to stop trying to hide the alopecia spot and focus on making the overall haircut look clean and consistent. 💈

With this client, we used to be able to cover the area when his hair was longer. Now that his hair is shorter, the better approach is keeping the fade even, balanced, and natural instead of forcing the haircut to disguise something that’s going to show anyway.

As barbers, part of the job is adapting to what the client’s hair allows us to do.

Work with the hair — not against it.

Different clippers serve different purposes. 💈

Knowing when to switch tools can make your cuts cleaner, your blending smoother, and your overall work more efficient.

Don’t get too attached to one clipper just because it’s your favorite. Learn your tools, understand what each one does best, and use them to your advantage.

The better you know your equipment, the better you can execute behind the chair.

A vibration massager isn’t just about making the service feel good — it can help relax tense muscles, improve circulation, and elevate the overall client experience. 💈

As barbers, the small details matter. Adding simple tools like this can turn a regular haircut into a more relaxing, premium service.

Would you add this to your service?
