Today, we celebrate two legendary figures in Jamaican music: Larry McDonald and Earl “Chinna” Smith! 🇯🇲

Larry has been awarded the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service, recognizing his dedicated service and contributions to Jamaica. Chinna has received the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer (OD), one of Jamaica’s national honours recognizing outstanding service to the country.

These honours are a testament to the lasting impact both men have made on Jamaican music and culture. SunDub is incredibly honored to have shared space with these two icons, and even more grateful to call them collaborators and friends.

Congratulations, Larry and Chinna, on this well-deserved recognition! ❤️💛💚

Flashback to recording sessions at Tuff Gong Studios, Bob Marley’s legendary studio in Kingston, Jamaica. These sessions became part of Havana Meets Kingston (albums 1 and 2), and the first time I got to record with the great Sly Dunbar and Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith (thanks for the intro Bongo Herman). Epic moments and beautiful music 🇯🇲

Sly Dunbar - drums
Chinna Smith - guitar
Bongo Herman - percussion
Chris Meredith - bass
Jake Savona - piano and hammond

Songs from these sessions include ‘Siempre Si’ and ‘We Are One’ 🎶

Sly Dunbar passed away earlier this year and will forever be missed 🤍🕊️
