Today I learned that my friend @smittythepup recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐾

Smitty was the very first pup to welcome us to Baltimore. How many dogs get to say their bestie was an actual boat captain? ⚓️🐾

Thanks to Captain Smitty and his amazing family, my mom and I had our very first boating adventure in the DMV. Mom got a chance to explore beyond D.C.—something she didn’t get to do nearly enough.

I hold onto so many sweet memories—from before I had my white beard—to sharing gelato, our day on the water, our walk beneath the cherry blossoms, and the fun surprise of running into each other while our families were vacationing in the same place. Every visit picked up right where the last one left off.

Sending all my love to your wonderful parents, Stacy and Craig. Thank you for sharing your sweet boy with us and for welcoming us into so many adventures.

Fair winds, Captain Smitty. Run free, my friend. Until we meet again. 🌈💙⚓️🐾
