Race day tomorrow! So excited to go into the final big race of the season and so grateful for all the folks that joined me along the way this year. #chicagomarathon2026

We are still processing everything that happened during Andrew’s Half Ironman, and there will be follow-up doctor and recovery appointments when we return to the mainland.

For now, we simply want to say thank you.

To the people who stopped, the first responders, the medical team, and everyone who has messaged, prayed, commented, and cared… your kindness has meant more than we can say.

We are grateful he is here, grateful for the people who helped, and grateful for all the love surrounding him.

The difference between actors and endurance athletes?
Honestly, I’m still trying to figure that out.

Both spend countless hours preparing for moments that may only last a few minutes.

Both face setbacks, self-doubt, and days when progress feels invisible.

Both learn that success isn’t built on race day or audition day. It’s built in the thousands of choices made long before anyone is watching.

Although I will admit there is one significant difference: Andrew’s pre-race pasta consumption could feed a family of four, while mine is approximately three noodles and a coffee. 🍝😂

Andrew came out of the ocean so strong and in third place. He made it through the transition in 1st place, and headed out on the bike at his Half Ironman in Waikoloa.

One mile later, he was hit by a pickup truck.

His bike was broken in half. The truck was dented from the impact. And somehow, our son is still here.

We are heartbroken for the race he trained so hard for and didn’t get to finish, but overwhelmingly grateful that we still get to wrap our arms around him.

On a brighter note, Mom and Dad may have broken the mile sprint record in our respective age groups.

Is it still the same workout if everybody swims in a different zone? 😂😎
