IM 70.3 World Champs Race Recap 🇫🇷🏁

SWIM 🏊🏽‍♀️
The best way to describe the blue waters of the Côte d’Azur is… blue Gatorade. 💙 At 78°, it was a non-wetsuit swim, which suited my preference perfectly. I felt smooth and consistent and honestly, it was absolutely beautiful.

BIKE 🚴🏽‍♀️
The first 6 miles were relatively flat before the climbs began. Then came Col de Vence — the longest, steepest sustained climb I’ve ever done. I calculated 45–50 minutes, and it was a GRIND.

To make things more challenging, I dropped my chain three times during that climb. Once I reached the top, I stayed in the big ring for the remaining climbs.

Where I really lost time was the descent. It was incredibly technical for my skill level, and I had done zero course recon. I absolutely should have. I spent the entire second half focused more on staying upright than racing.

People were FLYING. I saw 5 crashes and ambulances along the course. Cars, small towns and rough roads made for a very technical descent. I just wanted to get down safely.

3:45 bike — I had hoped to be closer to 3:15.

T2 🏃🏽‍♀️
I wasn’t feeling great getting off the bike. My right quad was cramping, my left hamstring was pulling, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to run.

RUN 🏃🏽‍♀️
Thankfully, the legs came around and I found a groove. But starting in the last wave meant I didn’t hit the run until 1:45 p.m. — and that sun was HOT. ☀️

I took in my planned nutrition, but felt incredibly sluggish. After the race, I realized I hadn’t finished an entire bottle on the bike. A costly mistake. I paid for it on the run.

There was a smile on my face at the finish, but I can honestly say my body has never felt worse.

This was not the race I wanted or planned for. I came to Nice to RACE… and ended up just surviving.

But every race teaches us something.

And this one will always be special because I got to experience it with friends and my daughter. We explored, laughed, made memories and experienced things we may never get to experience again.

For that, I am so incredibly grateful. ❤️🇫🇷🙏🏽

These finish lines 🏁
Always earned. Never given.
