New Annual 2026 - that’s a wrap
What an absolute privilege to deliver so many events within this festival, my gratitude to Tory Loudon and @citynewcastle.au for the trust and opportunity is endless. This festival is a dream come true. To deliver a creative arts and music festival in my home town and bring in so much local community as collaborators is an absolute thrill. The New Annual team are so dedicated and brilliant, my Canvas Crew are incredible and my suppliers are the absolute best.
Thank you so much. 🙏

DiP Under. Done. 🌊
What a day. I am still buzzing.
To Kanari @eyes.betweenlines, Penny @snappylapper, Michelle @littlekitephotography and Rach @sunshinesurfsessions - thank you for trusting me, getting in the water, and bringing the most beautiful energy to every single moment. Watching you find your eye below the surface was everything. 🤍
And to the incredible people who made this day more than just a workshop:
@k8tiejayne our beautiful model - thank you Katie for giving yourself so freely to both the pool and the ocean. You were magic in the water. 🤍
@nativebotanicalbrewery - the food was extraordinary. Native botanicals and so much love on every plate. Thank you Corey and Ieshia.
@honeybee.houseskin - thank you Mell for the beautiful skincare in our goody bags.
@elationthelabel - thank you Mel for the swimwear on our model, Katie, and the vouchers for our participants. Built for women who actually get in the water. 🌊
@helstyle @women_soulful_surf - thank you Helena for gifting every participant a free discovery call. What a generous addition to the day.
@kylarenes - thank you Kyla for capturing the day so beautifully behind the scenes. You were a joy to have there. 🎥(and thanks for joining us for the duckdiving in the ocean last minute!)
5% of every spot from today goes to @gotyourbacksista - supporting women and children rebuilding their lives after domestic violence right here in Newcastle. Because this workshop means something beyond photography. 💙
More workshop dates coming soon. Link in bio to join the waitlist.
See you in the water. 🌊

Penelope Green @snappylapper occupies a singular place within contemporary street photography. Her images reveal both the journalist and the artist: the journalist in her instinct for observation and her ability to place the viewer directly inside the scene; the artist in the refined visual language with which she transforms fleeting moments into images of remarkable aesthetic beauty.

Water is, of course, a defining element of her photographic universe. Again and again, it becomes both setting and metaphor, a fluid space in which another central theme of her work unfolds: the representation of Woman as a figure at once resilient, adaptable, passionate, and ethereal.

Penelope herself explains:

"As a cadet journalist at 18, photography entered my world rapidly via a hectic newsroom. Working alongside photographers nurtured a love for street and portraiture.
Swimming has always been my jam so when I finally took a camera into water it felt instinctive and exhilarating.
I like documenting how people interact with the sea and the visceral joy of immersion, so the viewer feels like they are there, too. Light, mood and motion collide - it's unpredictable, meditative and addictive.
Women play an important role in my experience as a primary carer, and swim with me daily.
Documenting women in water is about celebrating the feminine form and showing gratitude for their support."
