This painting is a commission for @simritkaur’s new album, “When We Return”. It was inspired by expanding beyond the self, coming from and returning back to the cosmos, honoring the beauty and power of the life-death-life cycle, and paying homage to her Greek roots. She sits within the Arch of Hadrian from Athens and underneath the evil eye amulet 🧿. The painting features the stunning headpiece that @snowbroth_ created for Simrit’s performances. So many rad creatives in our small town!
.
It took a lot of drafting to create an image infused with all of these intentions that still speaks to essence of the music and style of the band. We are really happy how it turned out! Big thanks to @simritkaur and @jaidev108 for supporting the process. Go check out the SIMRIT band on their tour right now and pick up their album that’s dropping in December!
