Gratitude to Abe Porter @snugharboroutpost for this. Bear family traversing the wetlands Contango wants to turn into an industrial port in order to ship ore from a gold mine within the boundaries of Lake Clark National Park. Can we just let some places... be?

NPR recently shared that under the Soviet Union, a favored toast of dissidents was “To our hopeless cause.” A few years later, the Berlin Wall fell. The few who would benefit the most want you to believe development is inevitable – up to and including poorly-considered industrialization over endangered species and wildlife sanctuaries. There is power in questioning this inevitability. We know there are sustainable, real-world alternatives. Join our dissent. Like, share, follow: there will be a time we will need many voices chiming in.

Alaska is the first place where I’ve had to actually decrease the saturation in my photos to make them more believable! There’s just nothing like those Alaska greens! I guess the bear and her reflection are pretty awesome too! There were so many times when I was so grateful I had my 100 to 500 mm lens! Grabbing those environmental wildscapes was everything for me. @snugharboroutpost @lakeclarknps #brownbear #alaskanbrownbear #shotoncanon #canonr5 #liveagreatstory

Had an incredible time traveling with @karphotography to Lake Clark National Park last week! This place is truly special, I’m coming back feeling excited to pick up a camera for the first time in a long time.

Met some lovely people, including the incredible team @snugharboroutpost! Excited to share more from this trip!

DARK & MOODY

Genetics said “let’s try something dark and moody” when it created this red fox kit. 🖤

THE DOCS

As we prepare to head back to Alaska, I can’t help but think about the trip where @doug_rettig and I met these two, @jim_shuler_md and el_trubo! That trip, with @karphotography to @snugharboroutpost, will always be one of our most special trips! So many incredible friendships that have lasted through the years!!!

Cheers to the OG Paw Patrol crew! 🐻

Wild Alaska called me back this June .
This image was taken on the small plane flight out to a remote camp by Lake Clark National Park for more time with the brown bears and some puffins!
What a wonderful adventure and fun time meeting new friends.
Thanks to @snugharboroutpost, @karphotography , and @alaskawestair

Thanks to Snug Harbor, Steve, Adam and Kate for an awesome trip. I can’t say enough good things about spending that week with the bears and the company.

16 days, 10 shifts…the light at the end of this crazy tunnel! All this overtime and lack of sleep will totally be worth it for a chance to be back in Alaska! Happy Wild Wednesday friends!

One of the very first Alaskan bears I saw was this darling blondie! I’ve never seen a brown bear this blonde before or since! #alaskanbrownbear #brownbear #alaskawildlife #liveagreatstory

Sedge grass provides vital nutrients for brown bears after hibernation and is a primary food source in the spring. We’ve been having an amazing time with Brown Bears & Puffins this spring! Come join us next year! @snugharboroutpost #wildlifeplanet #wildlifephotography #Alaska #bears #wildlifeperfection
